My favority ep was War Stories. It was the first complete episode I ever saw, and it hooked me on the series.

I especially liked the "This is something the Cap'n needs to do for himself" / "No it isn't!" cliche breaker.

I still think Objects in Space is one of the best episodes. River does a great job of playing with Jubals mind.

I think Jubal was about two steps from becoming a Reaver, he was standing too close to the edge of sanity. If Mal hadn't tossed him, I think Jubal Early would have eventually bit a bullet.

I'd have to say my favorite episode is War Stories because Wash got to play such a big part and it was so funny, so obviously my favorite character is Wash. Though I do think Badger kicks butt as well. I do agree that Out Of Gas is an awesome episode. I swear I was about in tears because the ending was just like he'd died and his perspective on Heaven would to be with all his crew. That's what it was like anyway, ovbiously he didn't actually die.

whoa...good perspective. I hadn't thought of it that way, but now that you mention it...yeah. I've always thought that Mal wanted to create a family, not just a crew. He certainly gives them that kind of loyalty.

Badger is just the weasley kind of baddie any space drama needs. With better fits, he could have been doing exactly what he does in Down Below on Babylon 5.

Pirates and Westerns and Space Opera. Hmmmm.

One thing that kinda bugs me with any of the Space Western stuff is that science fiction (or space opera) is pretty versatile. I mean look at Dune, or Star Wars, there are a number of different historical settings those stories can be set in. Or rather, recreate the historical melue (?) of those earlier eras in a space faring setting. Or use multiple ones.

Is there piracy in the Firefly universe? We see the seeds of peasant rebellion on several planets, (Jaynestown, as one example) Are their the equivalent of samuri? It has been noted that in a recent census in Australia, a sizable fraction of that continent listed their religion as "Jedi". How would bikers and surfers adapt to the big black.
