I found this site - http://www.homeindia.com/catalogue/jewllery/artificial/

And thought it would be extremely useful for people who are trying to put together Inara/Nandi/general companion costumes, the guys here who still havent figured out what to buy their browncoat clad significant other for valentines day, and the people who have no particular reason for just wanting sommore pretty shiny things.

I found loads of sites selling great indian jewelry, but never this cheap before, so i thought I would share

Didn't the main costume designer (I'm not gonna try to misspell her last name, sorry...) take off a lot of Indian fashions for the show? One of the things I liked a lot in Shindig was Atherton's outfit--I even have something that could look the same, if only slightly modified.

I know that a "Ah ha! I knew it!" thought came up in my mind when I listened to her commentary for the show once the DVDs were out. KF

Yeah, a hell of a lot of influences came from India, for all that the two main powers are China and America, it seems India got a lot of influence in towards the end.

I think they do those Jackets on the site, in the mens clothing section, but they are expensive. Like tha Sari's, I'd have about six of them, but they is a little on the dear side.

Edit - yup http://www.homeindia.com/catalogue/apprmen/sherwani/21336.shtml - but a little longer than his jacket ...still, very pretty! er, manly! and impulsive?

Yeah, that's either ridiculously high-quality, or really overpriced. But I'm gonna bet on the former.

Mine's a cheap one (a shalwar kurta, not a sherwani) that I could 'append' stuff onto for costume purposes. Don't think I'd wear one to a real formal occasion, however. Don't mean I don't like it, though, 'cause it still looks good {^^}. KF

oh I would, sari's and jackets that style (slightly altered to give them a waist) all the way!

my mom used to have a sari I never used to take it off.

Just wearing a piece of fabric to say, go to work, is a bit silly, but i'd have skirts and tops and jackets made out of the fabric no problem.
