OK, bear with me because I'm sometimes a little slow on the uptake and you've probably all figured this out way before.

I was watching Serenity with the commentary on, and I was trying to listen, but my brother was also talking to me, and it was up to the bit where they've just shot and killed the Reaver who got aboard after the chase.
River said, 'He didn't lie down, they never lie down.'

I finally got it. I've seen the movie loads of times, but that line never clicked until I was only half listening.
It's because of the people on Miranda ("They just lay down" - Mal).

Heh heh, I'm now feeling very smart and smug about it - although, as I said, you all probably had it figured out ages ago.

Yep, you're right. I didn't get it the first time, either.

When I show the movie to other people, I usually notice a confused "wow, she is crazy" look on their faces when River says that. That's why I'll say something to the effect of "Yeah, it will make sense later." I find that then everyone pays more attention to the movie because everybody wants to be the first to figure out the "mystery." So someone always gets excited that they solved it when the crew is patroling Miranda and find the office. It really adds to the experience, I think. Plus that way I keep my friends out of the special hell...at least for not talking during the movie, they could still be there for the other reason.

There's no shame in this. :) For instance, take that scene where River is sitting against the wall, still cuffed, in the galley, saying:

R: Miranda.
S: Miranda?
R: Ask her.

It took me a couple of times to realize that "Ask her" refers to the lady in the holographic recording, at Miranda. Which line, of course, throws Simon for a loop, causing him to ask: "Am I talking to Miranda now?"

What the heck is wrong with you! Are you a complete reatard! Useless!! Come on man, did you really not get it the first time! Jeez it only took me three times watching the movie to catch that!!!! :)

Ya that one was a tough one to catch. It took me bieng up till 2am and then waking up at 4am for PT gong to class, then coming home more almost to the point of passing out and watching Serenity to catch on to this. Yes it sounds odd but it is the truth.

Just wait till you watch the series about 50 times and catch something you didnt notice the first 49 its great.

CAPELLA

I have only seen the movie in German and they translated it badly with "giving up" rather than "laying down" (only in case of the reaver) which made it impossible to spot that one.

Oh, I am so looking forward to the DVD release when I can finally watch this thing in English...

Keep flying,
Capella

I also love the part where its doing the circular camera thing on Miranda, its on Jayne and he says "Everybodies dead for no reason" then the camera head to Wash

Just a cryptic bit of foreshadowing
