...(humbly steps into the cargo bay)...
Is there room for just one more passenger on this boat?

I've been lurking around these forums for a while now and decided it was time to join the fun! Like most of the other new Browncoats, I'm a DVD recruit. I remember seeing previews for Firefly before it aired, but never had a chance to catch an episode. Then I saw the trailer for Serenity on Apple.com and was intrigued. But I haven't made it into the theatre since X-Men 2 (Daddy duties and all). I didn't really get introduced to the 'verse until I bought the Serenity DVD.
And that was the start of my new addiction.
I bought the Firefly DVDs and finished them in a week. It was over so quickly and I had nowhere to turn! Until I found FireFlyFans.net! And now I spend almost as much time here as I do re-watching the series DVDs. I check everyday waiting for that post that I know WILL eventually come: "Firefly Gets the Green Light for Season 2!"
So here I am. I may be new, but I am loyal. And I will do my part to keep this boat in the air as long as you'll have me!

Welcome, welcome! It is so shiny to have new folks come aboard!

We're all in this boat together and it's great to have a new recruit that is in love just like the rest of us.

Welcome to the 'Verse! :) I hope you stay.

Just for your consideration: you move on over to this side, we'll not only show you where the stuff's at -- we'll see to it you get your fair share. (...) Your own room. Full run of the kitchen. Whole shot.

You decide!

Welcome!

I am pretty new here too, but everyone is always super shiny, and just being here makes the loss of Firefly easier to bear!

So, have a seat, get comfortable, and enjoy the ride!

Thanks for the welcome, folks. I have always heard that group therapy is the best way to work through an addiction. That voicing your weaknesses helps you overcome them. Well, I've got some voicing to do. The DVDs weren't enough for me. I had to have more of the 'verse. Here is the tally so far of my downward spiral:

- Serenity Movie Poster signed by the whole cast and Joss
- Sealed box of Serentiy trading cards
- Firefly series Soundtrack
- Finding Serenity paperback

And just like a drug, every dose leaves me more hungry for the next!

I got me one of them fancy sealed boxes. I conjure that if I get real desperate for a new fix, I can bust open that wrapper and git an eyefull o' all the purty cards inside. Kinda like "In Case of Emergency Break Glass"

Welcome WOLF, have some Mudder's Milk,

We're all here for each other. If you need another fix you can try the River Tam sessions, and the extended Firefly gag reeel. Sorry I don't know the link (I'm so bad at that) but I think there are others on this site that can help you find them. And though I don't have them myself there are the comics that bridge the gap between the show and the movie (6 months I understand, I still have to get those.) and the Fan Filks.

We've all been where you are, but it's good to see more coming to our little part of the verse. If you want more recruit recruit recruit. The more people who hear our war cry, the better our chances at winning this war. You know they Can't stop the signal. This is a battle we'll soon win.

If I'm a bitch, then life just got interesting.

Uh, extended Firefly gag reel? WHERE???

Speaking of downward spirals...so far:

one Firefly boxed set
Three original shooting scripts, signed by the cast
One t-shirt and keychain set
One t-shirt, poster, keychain, bunch of other stuff set
Several sets of dogtags (these are too cool! check out www.serenityverse.com/shop if you want to see!)
One promo pic

(nothing signed of course)
And, I'm lurking on this board WAAAAAY too much, scanning the TV guide for the Caleb episodes of Buffy, and any reruns of Firefly.

Obsessed? Who, me?

If you make my favorite show disappear forever, you *will* go to a very special level of hell, one reserved for child molesters, people who talk at the theater, and Fox executives.

Welcome here, we're weird.

If you want more convert people so that they will buy DVDs and convert more people.

After I get those two things out I try to say something unique for each indiviudal, like I am now, but really the only thing that needs to be said is:

Welcome home.

You're part of the family now (even if you don't want to be) and that's all you really need to know.

I've de-lurked for the first time today as well! I'm glad to see that there are others like me that are just coming into the fandom. And also that there are others who are as obsessed as I am.

My introduction into the Firefly 'verse had perfect timing. I saw a performance of Spamalot with Alan Tudyk and met some Firefly fans in the audience who made me promise to rent the series DVDs. I rented them, loved them, bought them and then the Serenity DVD came out!

I'm so glad to discover a place where I can discuss Firefly with other fans. I'm working really hard on my end trying to recruit more fans, but until they become as crazy about the show as I am, it's good to know I can come here for a fanfic fix and keep up to date on news.

Were I unwed I would take you in a manly fashion.

Hey Misbehavin,
You don't know how many times I have wanted to tear into that box of cards! I even came so close as to having the knife touching that shiny Inkworks shrinkwrap. But I resisted. That is the only FireFly territory that I haven't explored yet so I am trying to hold off as much as I can! Kinda like how I held off watching "Objects in Space" for an entire day since I new it was the last! One thing to look forward to, though, is the Firefly set of trading cards coming out in April.
