I've been doing it monthly since September.

This is absolutely a great idea because Sc-Fi actually looks at this stuff.

We will hold...we hold till Mal gets back.

I have sent several letters myself in the recent months as well as this feedback address. I figure it is worth a shot. SciFi seems to think firefly is worthy enough for a movie and to buy syndication. They also had decent ratings with the firefly reruns at a 7:00 time slot. I hope for good things from SciFi.

Been doing it constantly and will continue to.

I'm going to start sending hand written letters to them too.

Anything we do( and the more of us that do it the better IMHO) can only draw their attention to it.

Firefly would make an incredible SciFi Friday addition to their line-up. We just have to make them see that.

Thank you, Milford. It's my new mission I suppose. Whenever I get despairing I remind myself that we Browncoats are good at holdin'. The original Browncoats did it and it got us all the BDM and I think we newer Browncoats have gotta do the same. 'Sides, Mal said it, I'm doin' it!

Done. I've emailed them before, and I think FOLLOWMAL is right--some snail mail letters couildn't hurt, either. I read somewhere that SciFi is unlikely to grab new Firefly/Serenity while they've still got Battlestar Gallactica and Stargate on their hands. The way I figure it, however, is that those shows won't last forever. Maybe if SciFi gets a steady stream of emails and letters, and viewers for their reruns of Season 1 (I love 'em for that), then one day the stars will align and it'll be the right time for a return to Firefly. That's my hope anyway. And as long as there is hope, I can be patient (sort of).

I do too! That's how I got here... and I think it converts people every time they show them.

I'm still hoping that SciFi will see that a lead in from Firefly will garner them a whole bunch of Browncoats as viewers for the rest of their SciFi Friday line-up. I think that BSG is a really good show ( no FF, but nothin' is) and I think that the Stargate duo could do with some shiny new viewers. I'm hopin' that SciFi sees it that way.

That's a good angle to use with them, I think. Given that they keep showing the reruns, you've gotta think they're trolling for support for the day that they'll be able to continue the story. If we're all already used to seeing FF on SciFi, it's not such a stretch for the story to continue there.

Anybody else think that there will have to be another movie by Universal first, and it will have to do much better at the box office, before we'll see another series? Don't get me wrong--I'll take it in whatever format I can get it, provided Joss and cast are driving it forward, but TV would be my first choice.

I'd like to see another movie, however I have begun to suspect with all the interest from SciFi ( reruns, polls, etc.) that they may be conjuring a mini-series to feel it out like they did BSG. Maybe a successful mini-series or tv movie and then check the ratings and see if a tv show is possible.

I would LOVE the series to come to tv ( like you... provided it's Joss, Tim and the cast, and only this cast, no replacements, please) and then more movies etc. I really do think that given enough exposure Firefly/Serenity has the ability to become a big hit. The next franchise if you will. It just hasn't spread far enough and wide enough. YET.

So to answer your question ( heavens, I'm long winded today!), yes I think there will have to be another movie, or a mini-series or tv movie for the suits to see just how big an impact it will have. In the meantime, us tellin' 'em so won't hurt.

Yea, what is it about that? I often forget that my 2 most favorite eps were written by Tim or co-written by Tim. ( OoG and The Message).

Right after the movie came out, folks posted on here that Tim would be in on the second movie (WHEN, note I said, WHEN, I'm upbeat today, gorramnit! LOL)it comes out.

Done.

And here, I had just mailed them THEN read the thread... We must be thinking alike.

Posted what I wrote on my blog here.

Anyone got info on a snail-mail addy we can write to? I've got a few fifty stamps. If I gotta write them every week and write up my own screenplays, I'll do that too.

I think that as a sign of respect to the Browncoats that have gone before, I'd be more than willing to help begin a writing campaign to SciFi.

Please, oh please, let this be the light at the end of the tunnel. SciFi has not let me down yet.

We WILL hold till we get them back.

Much love to Tim. By the way, as I was reading responses to this thred, I was reminded of Sliders. Remember that show? It was cancelled by Fox and picked up by Sci Fi for a while. I think they made two seasons or something. So, it does happen.

By the way, I think SG-1 has run its course. Wouldn't that be a sweet Friday night? Firefly and then BG? I'm in. Still enough room on my DVR for Monk too.

I've never really gotten into BSG. My husband likes it but doesn't watch it often b/c I'm not into it (and I'm kinda pushy with the TV). I must say, however, that with a FF/BSG line-up, odds are exceptional that I'd watch BSG every week. So there you go, SciFi Channel--want more viewers for your other programs? Slap some new FF in there and increase your viewing public! :-)

BSG is good, Mcallen, you should give it a try. It's not as good as Firefly, sometimes bows to the scifi tried and true formulaic thing, but it's as good as tv gets right now.

Count me in... I'm there for FF and BSG! I'd never go anywhere on a Friday night again!

Milford, I'm afraid you are right. I think that SG-1 has run it's course, but I think that Atlantis has a little go in it yet.

The partial episodes I've seen of BSG (and admittedly, it's just been a few minutes here and there) all just seem so cold and sterile. I've never heard a funny on there, and it's all just ... so ... dramatic. Not saying it needs to be Vaudeville, but I've always gotten a very one-dimensional feeling from watching it. Perhaps I should try again, though ...

Yea, it is that. Like I said it's not as well rounded and funny as FF, they certainly do take themselves seriously and it has fallen prey to conventional scifi stuff (IMHO) before. BUT... I think it's the only other thing out there besides my Firefly/Serenity DVD's that I can stand to watch. ( Monk not withstanding, Milford, sorry ) You might see what you think.

True, the show does not tend to have a lot of humor, but it is a story about the last surviving 1% of the human race fleeing from evil robots intent on wiping them out. Not a situation that lends itself to a lot of levity.

It is my understanding, probably due to the news segment on Firefly Talk or the Signal, that the TV rights for Serenity have already been bought by USA network.

Does anyone else rememeber this?

Am I the only one that has a reaction of wanting to go to SciFi and knock on their doors with axes and baseball bats when the realization hits that one of the reason FF/Serenity doesn't get picked up is because they have too much SG-1 on their hands?

I mean.....10 years of it? AND a spin-off show? Seriously?

Don't take this the wrong way to you SG addicts out there, but....is SG that good or are you just so hungry for any SciFi whatsoever (and I will say that any kind of SciFi gets the short end of the stick) that you just eat it up?

I'm a SciFi fan....but....I just don't get SG...I just don't get it. A movie, yes. TEN YEARS worth? No. Gorram. Way.

Also, in what frickin' universe does MacGyver get a long lasting TV career and FFers don't even get a gorram consideration??

How much is that little Geisha in the window?

I hadn't heard that (which means nothing).

USA would be a nice landing spot for the Fly since they seem to actually care for their original series.

I think the best solution would be for SG1 to go away (it's on it's last legs, at least storywise), and have Sci-Fi roll that extra money over to a new season of Firefly with the rights licensed from Fox. There will definitely be a hole in the lineup, and Atlantis is not strong enough to carry the weight.

For as much as it pains me, BSG is the flagship show. In fact it's a frakin juggernaut at this point (it is a great show), and Firefly could not at this point supplant it. But the resurgence of Firefly as the opener, in Atlantis's current timeslot, would put Sci-Fi in an excellent position to absolutely own Friday night television. NOBODY could compete with that.

If you haven't watched BSG you should give it a try. They do a good job over there. You are right though, much more serious than FF, but, then again, they're in a more serious situation. Only seems appropriate.

Let's get on it with Sci Fi. I think they'd go for it. Someone on another board commented that the way they got BSg on the air was by gettin Sky One (I think that's it) in the UK to pony up some cash. So heads up there across the pond. You hit your station and we'll hit ours and see what we can do.

Maybe we should try to coordinate something. Get ahold of people on the different boards and fanfic sites, and one week have a massive letter-writing campaign, both snail and email. We could send them shirts and stickers and movies and all manner of stuff. We could even send them a copy of the Done the Impossible DVD, which I'm pumped about by the way. We should include things like how many units of the DVD's and Serenity have been sold, all the info on the podcasts and everything. Include pictures from the Flanvention showing the audience response and devotion. We should set aside a week and just do it. No talk, just action. Who's with me?

Thanks FollowMal. I'll be getting on that sometime this week. Perhaps even handwritten, make 'em work to read my plea... :)

I remember Sliders! My mom loved that show. I was more a fan of Quantum Leap though. And yes, she also got me into Blake's 7. What can I say, I'm true to my genre...

SO...if SciFi is polling about a second season and has picked up re-air rights to Firefly, should we possibly get our hopes up?

If we all do a snail-mail write up and send them on the 24th (which is when Nathan's on FX as Caleb in Buffy)...

Could work. Anyone up for it?
