I've heard so many comments from fellow Firefly lovers about liking this show that I decided to start DVR-ing it from some cable channel.

So, anything I should know before I start watching?

Well I'm sure you know Jewel Staite's in it and that Tim Minear is a producer. All I have to say is just go with it. It's a bit of a fantasy but it's also a story of connection to people and the world around us. It's hilarious and fun, I'm glad you are checking it out. Also, if you like it, try out Dead Like Me, it's by the same guy who created the show,Bryan Fuller, and has alot of the same elements(also Jewel Staite is in the last ep of the first season-if that helps your interest). Hope you enjoy it!

It is a series that's best watched in the correct order (though it's not quite as critical as something like 24 or, for that matter, Firefly). I do suggest you watch the first episode first, and definitely the last four or five have to be seen in order.

Um, do you know the correct order? I could post that if you need the info.

I don't disagree on any particular point.

I own the DVD set, if that says anything. I loved th way it was written, a couple of eps were especially good. Caroline Dharvernas is sooo fine.

It really could have been something special. Hell, it already is!

Just make sure you don't think of Kaylee when you watch Jewel Staite's character in Wonderfalls. Her character in Wonderfalls is the polar opposite of Kaylee. just a heads up.

No, I don't know the order, or really anything much about it at all!

This is the preferred episode order, per the DVD set:

Wax Lion (pilot)
Pink Flamingos
Karma Chameleon
Wound-Up Penguin
Crime Dog
Muffin Buffalo
Barrel Bear
Lovesick Ass
Safety Canary
Lying Pig
Cocktail Bunny
Totem Mole
Caged Bird

I'd recommend starting with the pilot, if possible, and don't watch any from Safety Canary onward out of order (except Totem Mole, which is not quite as critical). Really, it's best to watch them all in order if possible, as there is a story arc (though it's not quite as significant as Firefly's).

There's a lot to like about this series. It's got a clever and quirky premise. The acting is excellent -- like Firefly, it's a great ensemble cast that got along well on the set. It's well written and funny. It has a memorable theme song, too, though it could hardly be more different from Firefly's.

And, of course, it shares another distinction with our favorite show -- it was canceled far, far too soon by the witless drones at Fox.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to it, although I just noticed that the eps that got DVR'd don't have episode titles, just the general show description. Darn. Might have to just break down and get the DVD. Then I can get Freaks & Geeks and watch Firefly again and have a big ole cry over lost possibilities! ;)

It's awesome. That's all there is to know.

Oh - and what everyone else said, watch them in order, particularly the last four or five.

You might also recognize some familiar faces if you watch(ed) Roswell, The Inside or Invasion (I'm sure there are others, those are just the ones I remember the most, especially since it took me 5 minutes to convince someone of the Invasion one).

My advice is to stick with it.

I watched the first episode and thought it was OK, a bit quirky, but I wasn't immediately hooked. They took the time to really set up the story and the characters, which made the first ep a bit slow for me (on first watching, although not on repeat watching), but it made the others great.

I watched the second episode because I read hear on this board what a great show it was, so I carried on. and on. and on.

I ended up having to ration myself and try and stop myuself watching all the episodes in one sitting.

this is after I got the DVD set on the strenght of the few episodes I managed to hunt down while it was showing in Britain.

Its extremely good, and what every one else up there said.

episode guides are here http://www.tv.com/wonderfalls/show/18158/episode_guide.html

though you may find or someone'll know of a better site, that was just the first I found by googling.

enjoy!
