Yes this is very good news. Now some of their math is maybe a bit dodgy but it still leaves wiggle room in the profit department. So here is a bit more hope for Serenity 2: When Mal met Inara.

WHITEFALL

Now, I'm a pessimist about all things involving estimation, but: the reasoning looks about right, (finding the amount by looking at what other movies above and below were) and they clearly over and under estimated where aplicable, so unless the advertising budget was stupendously huge (which i think we all doubt :-\ ) then, well.. they are right, we arent in the red, and the firefly fan base has grown like crazy on a profit-making venture!

If i'm smart enough to realize that Serenity II could only be more successful thanks to the vast boost in the fanbase (which was probably slacking slightly after 3 years, in theory) surely the good folk at 'versal know it too. 'sides, profit is profit, and with the impending release of the international DVD (remember serenity was #1 in britain n such...) i think we'll only get better.

But, ultimately, my pessism wont subside till I see a press release about Serenity II :-\. O well.

I survived a day in Whitefall and all I got was this lousy signature!

Unfortunately I tend to agree with Whitefall’s pessimism. But that doesn’t mean it’s not good news—I’m happy, and hopeful.

Everyone, quick, go out and buy Serenity DVDs!
