I read an article in Premiere Movie magazine saying that there were several google nets offering up our beloved Captain as a possible successor to Harrison Ford in the series. Let's see..given Nathan's, um, physical prowess, dark good looks and wise cracking sense of humor I think he'd be perfect. Anyone else agree?.....Also, upon reading this I was blessed with the image of Nathan with slight stubble and a little smudge on his cheek,in a half unbuttoned shirt and that hat, cracking a whip...OMG...*turns ceiling fan on high at the thought*

"Do you know what your sin is, Mal?" "Aw, hell, I'm a fan of all seven..."

I could definitly see it in my head, but honestly, I wouldn't want to see anyone but Harrison Ford playing Indy.

Just as I wouldn't want to see anyone else play Mal.

He was Han Solo reborn, so why not Indy? I think he'd be perfect!

But several other actors have already played Indy so this isn't without precedent. Whereas... Nathan was asked at S2 who he would have liked to have played Mal instead of himself and he recommend a friend of his who was also up for the part who apparently would have been a great alternative choice... pause... "over my cold dead body."

Also, Nathan expressed a love for the Indiana Jones franchise at the Serenity² con in London. He said that he would love to be a part of the upcoming movie somehow too.

True, but they were playing the character at vastly different ages (child, teen and geezer). But since Nathan is none of these (though Ford's approaching geezer status), I would assume we're talking adult Indy. To me, Ford is just too closely tied to Indy to see someone else in the role. Sometimes re-casting works, but it's often hit or miss. Batman and James Bond seem to be the best examples. Everyone seems to have their favorite, but (with the exception of Connery) for every fan of one given actor in the role, you'll find another who hated them.

The only way I could really go for Nathan as Indy would be if it was a total re-start, ala Batman Begins or Casino Royale. But given Ford is about to put on the fedora for a 5th time (counting the young Indy TV series), I don't see this happening anytime soon.

not as Indy perhaps.. but as his son.. yeah...

Harrison will always be Indiana Jones..

I hope IJ4 does not have some old creaky guy trying to be 30 again...lol...

I think Nathan would have been great for DaVinci code too as that character Langdon was meant to be sort of like an Dr. Jones... oh well.. I like Tom Hanks but he ain't as sexy ans the Langdon character is meant to be in the books...

I would see Nathan in anything... but I shudder to think of Slither.. I hope it doesnt set his career back.. it seems so hokey.. and then white noise two... shudder again.. hope he and his agent know what the heck they are doing.. or that the scripts are better than they sound...

Chindi I love my captain...

I agree with Chindi, he'd be fine as Indy's son. I personally don't think Harrison Ford would allow it, but it'd be nice.

I also think Nathan would have been perfect for The DaVinci Code, but Tom Hanks will have to do. I read the book, and I can't see Tom being sexy (nope, not a bit) but Nathan would have been perfect for the role! When oh when are they ever going to figure out this man's range and ability....sigh....

Just realized I said basically the same thing as Chindi only not as well.... * holds head in hands.... I think I'm tired, lol*

ouch...

this is a toughie

let me put it this way: If i were willing to see anyone but Ford under Indy's hat, Fillion would be at the top of the list.

Well apparently Harrison is going to continue as Indy and Stallone as Rocky and Rambo(seems he's in talks to do another of each). So while these seasoned vets are still at their prime the characters belong to them, and all is right with the cinematic world. Maybe someday....(Though I still say Nathan would make a sexy Indy, especially if it's when he's older...)

Could definately see Nathan as Indy or an Indy type of character.

I've mentioned this before but the way he takes out Dobson in the pilot is so like Indy and the guy with the sword.

Nathan has the combination of action hero, awesome comic timiing and the ability to be a romantic lead all at once.

I'm not one to judge purely based on age, for example I think Sean Connery might just look better older than he did in the original Bond movies, and while Harrison Ford has aged badly per say, I just don't think he's Indy material anymore. At least not the Indy in the first movies. I think the Indiana Jones series, like the Bond series, could continue well with different lead men. Nathan Fillion would be wonderful in this role. The fact that the man has fun at his job comes across on screen and I don't think it gets much more fun than Indiana Jones.

While I can see it as being a good fit in theory, reality is I can't see Indiana Jones himself as being anyone other than Harrison Ford.

He might be old(er), but I'll wager he can still get the job done. It's all down to how well George Lucas writes the damn thing. I mean, look what he did with the Star Wars prequels - talk about a botch job!

It could work if the writing was done well, but quite frankly, and please don't get mad, I don't think the IJ movies have ever been about good writing. Yes, they were entertaining, but they were also cheesy and unrealistic. It was humor, and sex appeal that really carried those movies. I'm not saying that Harrison Ford can't do it, it's just that I can see Nathon Fillion as his succesor in the role. I mean I doubt it will happen, but I'm of the female species, and I think any straight female thinking of Nathan as Indiana Jones gets a little tingly.

Much as I think you shouldn't touch the classics (cause if South Park did an episode about it, it must be truth), I could definitely see Nathan as Indy. In the Blue Sun Room, someone once posted a photoshop of Nathan's head on Han Solo's body, and I got to say, at first glance, it looked pretty good. He's just about the right age for the part.

Random question: What does Mal mumble (in Chinese) after Dong Luh Mah at the end of the opening oner of Serenity? He's talking to Simon, say's Dong Luh Mah, turns and keeps talking!

Thank you *takes a bow*

And forget my bunk. I'll be in Mal's. Or should I say Indiana's?

And while my thoughts are on Harrison Ford does anybody think a Firefly/Original Star Wars crossover would be hilarious? Two men in love with women who drive them crazy, two women trying to deny they've fallen in love with smugglers? Kaylee trying to braid Chewbacca's hair?
