If you are trying to avoid spoilers, watch the movie now, and then, maybe, you can come back and read this. Thou hast been warned.

So, we've got a couple of deaths in the BDM, deaths which will surely sadden us forever. It is in this spirit of mourning, that I will make fun of these events in a possible overanalysis and proof using unsound logic.

It came to me when I saw the words "Book or Wash." Reading mentally aloud, it sounded like "Booker Wash." I am reading Ellison's "Invisible Man," and so my mind instantly jumped to "Booker Wash" and then to "Booker Washington" and evolving finally to "Booker T. Washington."

And there we have it. The deaths of our beloved pilot and Shepherd occured because of the man who thought that Black Americans should increase their political power through raising their social standing.

But wait! Booker T. Washington. Booker becomes Book. Washington becomes Wash. But there is still that unused "T." "Aha," I thought, "Mr. T would so die if he were in Serenity. River would have killed him. On Miranda. For no reason."

Is it, because he is black?

Just kidding.

That's a good book you're reading, I hope you enjoy it.

I take offense to the Topic of this post.

"I really do pity da foo"

BLINKER

And were there an "Er T. Ington" in Serenity, well, he'd be dead inside of the first frame.

Scorpion Regent, that was really funny!!!!!

Next Joss took the cup, and when He had given thanks He gave it to us saying, "Drink of it, all of you; for this is Mudders Milk and its 15% alcohol. So we now do this in remembrance of Firefly

I must say that I am glad to see that I'm not the only one who makes random and unusual conecctions like that. It really does make sense and there is a perfectly understandable line of reasoning when it's mapped out for all to see but if all others hear is the bigining and the ending, they all think you're crazy.
Like this: Book and Wash die in the BDM...Mr.T would so die in Serenity!.

BTW. The Invisible Man is a very good book.

While I'm not reading IM out of choice, it is an excellent book. Still, every time he jumps on to one philosophy or another, I shake my head, because I know it's going to be rough. I'm at the part after the argument about the protagonist's "personal responsibility" and the startling discovery about Brother Jack.

Nah, I figure he was probably at the Maidenhead when River was triggered and she garroted him with his own jewelry.

MISSTRESSAHARA

May I suggest barnaby that you put a spoiler in your topic thread, though it may be redundent, but there are some people who never saw the movie who may be trying to avoid spoilers. I know, it's incredible to think, but there have been a few newbies to the Verse who saw the show and not the movie who got upset reading this stuff.

Not trying to be mean or snarky, I am afterall the resident bartender of the ship as it were, doling out the Milk to thems that need it, just a heads up.

If I'm a bitch, then life just got interesting

Barnaby ignore my post, I realize there'll truly be no way for new people to avoid any spoilers except to avoid this site altogether. If I sounded snarky I hadn't meant to.

Lord, I'm walking your way. Let me in, for my feet are sore, my clothes are ragged.
Look in my eyes, Lord, and my sins will play out on them as on a screen. Read them all.
Forgive what you can and send me on my path. I will walk on until you bid me rest.
