I was thinking maybe to help bring more recruits we could direct some requests at Fox for a re-release of Firefly on DVD

Maybe a 'Special Editon' with more features or just a box set with Firefly and Serenity together?

Couldn't do a combined set because Serenity was released by Universal. There's a good chance that we could get a special edition of Serenity though, as there are extra special features that weren't in the US release. I'll be sure to buy it again, and pass on my original to someone else so they can experience it.

How 'bout a rerelease in theaters? Didn't Spiderman do really well as a rerelease? I would bet my left arm that Serenity would gross just as much if not more than the original release. Ok, maybe your left arm.

What about the Browncoats trying to arrange charity screenings of Serenity on June 23, 2006 (Joss's Birthday) One Browncoat is trying to arrange a screening of Serenity at a 3000 seat theater in Albany, NY for June 23, 2006.

It would be great if Universal arranged a re-release and maybe they will someday. And maybe if Browncoats line up enough theaters...Universal might get the idea that it would be worthwhile.

But Browncoats can do it. All you need is a theater and enough Browncoats to convince the theater that it is worth the cost of getting the film.

Cleveland Browncoats just co-sponsored a screening of Serenity on Feb. 24.

I never got to see Serenity on the big screen. I would love to see it rereleased to theaters. Even a rerelease of the BDM with more actors commentary would be amazing. I also would love a rerelease of the Firefly box set. Any new firefly/serenity would be AMAZING!!!!!!!!

As mentioned above, don't wait for this to happen. Make it happen in your area.

Once I finished my server repairs, the Can't Stop The Serenity website wil be back up and you can look into the idea.

That's the first time I heard about this and I live in the area. Can you elaborate more on this Albany thing, please?

Also, Albany is a bad area to try to fill 3,000 seats as I don't think there are many Browncoats around here. It would only work unless Browncoats were brought in from other areas in masses.

But if this is the case I would definitely like more info as I would love to attend and bring everyone I know with me.

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

Hi,

sorry if I'm missing the right place to comment on that.

I believe that EVE ( http://www.eve-online.com/) resembles slightly? Isn't it?
Have nto played much myself, but got an impression.

I'm giddy!

http://www.cantstoptheserenity.com/
has a yahoo group to discuss Charity/Benefit showings of Serenity and "and our newly-begun FAQ page for contact information at Universal for film rental and public performance rights. "

There's a website for the Albany screening now.

http://www.serenitypalace.com/

And remember: Albany was one of the cities that got at least one of the three special advance screenings last year, so there's a market there.

Meanwhile, the Can't Stop The Serenity website is back up.

I think the BDM should be re-released in theaters! I only was able to see it once due to my heavy college/work schedule, but it was only in theaters for about 2 weeks?! I think it got pulled too early due to the flood other crappy cheap movies.

I live in a decent size city and I was surpirsed to see it pulled out of theaters within a 100 mile radius that quick. I wanted to see it at least 2 others times but I wasn't able to. A re-release in theaters would allow those who saw it on dvd to see it on the big screen.

A special edition of Serenity would be awesome as well! I'd buy it and buy it for other people as gifts as well. However, Firefly is different. Fox still owns Firefly so I am angry at them and I'm not sure if I'd buy it as a special edition. I think Fox would do it to use our large fanbase for their wallets.
