Hey all! I posted about this awhile ago (under 'Philly area Browncoats'), but we finally have complete info, including dates and times.

Here's the deal: Every Saturday through the month of March, we'll be showing Firefly on the 'big screen' at Indian Valley Public Library in Telford, PA, which is just outside Philadelphia. We'll wrap things up with an evening screening of Serenity in early April. It'll be shown in digital projection on a large screen; not movie theater 'large', mind you, but large all the same.

We'll show 4 episodes each week; screenings will go from 1:30-5 pm every Saturday starting March 4th. It's free and open to the public; you don't have to be a library member. You can bring food - for yourself or to share with other Browncoats, if you're so inclined.

For details, schedule, etc., please go to http://serenitysaturdays.blogspot.com or e-mail dont.wanna.explode@gmail.com

Hope to see you there!

Kate

MISBEHAVIN

Is anyone else going to this screening Saturday March 4? My brother and I will probably attend. They're showing the pilot, and it would be great to see it on a larger screen with some other browncoats. Kate has done some nice work putting this together. The site referenced below indicates that costumes are welcome, so I'm going to try to get my brother to wear the actual costume from Serenity that he bought. (It's the shirt and pants worn by the man that Mal pushed off the Mule.)

I hope to see others there.

IVY

It's about an hour away for us (we live in South Jersey) and we have a 2 year old, so every weekend will not work. I would love to go on the 11th to see Shindig, Safe, Our Mrs. Reynolds and Jaynestown and then again for Serenity. I'm gonna start looking for a baby sitter now!

Can anyone from the area recommend some nice (gormet, fusion, etc.) restaurants in the area (or along the Blue Route)? The best way for me to get my friends to do anything is with the promise of great food along with entertainment!

Ivy

I've been sane a while now, and change is good...

Hey Ivy! We'd love to see you there whenever you can make it; we're hoping that, if we get a good response, we can make this a regular thing at the library.

We don't live in the area, but I grew up there, so I can tell you that, while there's not much in the way of interesting dining in the immediate neighborhood, there are options not far away.

Your best bet for anything other than pizza and "family restaurants' (which i wouldn't recommend) is a little town called Skippack, about 20 minutes from the library. It has a number of decent restaurants, and you can check them out here http://www.villageofskippack.com/index/vl-cat-action?cat=Dining

I've eaten at a few - the Back Porch Cafe is nice, as is Parc Bistro. Brasserie 73 is supposed to be good as well, and, while it's not much in terms of ambience, the Skippack italian Deli has the best (and biggest) gourmet hoagies you'll ever eat.

There's a good Chinese restaurant about 15 minutes away called Yantze, and there's also an excellent French/Thai place called Nadia in Lansdale, which is about 20 minutes from the library.
I can give you directions if you're interested.

Thanks for asking, incidentally; I'll post this info to the blog for anyone else who might be interested.

Hope to see you there!

Kate
