Photo Scavenger Hunt Details

Here's what you need to know about the photo scavenger hunt in Old Town:

It will be a team event - we'll divide up the Browncoats into crews
(teams), hopefully no larger than 5-6 people.

Each crew should have one digital camera.

Crews will travel on foot - no cars, bikes, mules allowed. Wear
comfortable footwear for your desired speed. You'll probably be out on
the world for a few hours.

Crews might hit a spot where some extra guidance would be nice. Feel
free to send a wave (call) to anyone to play the role of Mr. Universe,
by looking up stuff on the cortex (internet).

Once a crew solves a clue they must navigate to that location and take
a photo of ALL of them there.

Photos on the camera must be in order with the checkpoints on the clue
sheet, starting with your starting location. For instance, if your
starting location is #3, you must do all the checkpoints in order:
3-4-5-6-7-8-1-2.

Once you've reached all the checkpoints, return to the finish line and
get your photos validated by Badger. The winning crew will be the one
that gets all the checkpoints right, in the shortest amount of time.
it's better to get the job done right than fast.

We’ll meet at 1 PM at the Central Plaza (grassy area) of Old Town State
Historic Park. Look for the flagpole and cannons. The state park is just
east of the Old Town Transit Center (a handy place to park all day for
free, enter at Pacific Highway). Or for the rail-inclined, take the Amtrak
train that pulls into Old Town (OLT) at 12:38 PM.

With 4 hours in between the start of the hunt and dinner, you can count
on walking 4-5 miles. But we'll allow the use of public transport for the
hunt (the Trolley will come in real handy, the bus - less so.) - this might
save time and feet.

James (again thanks to James F. for all the work)

SoCal Browncoats,

So what are you planning to do on June 23, 2006 Joss's birthday?

I know of which you speak. Unfortunately, the leaders of the SoCal group are already knee deep in preparations for the Comic-Con fan tables/charity event. Maybe someone will come forward who wants to try and get a screening set up here.

Anyone?

That sounds great. I hope you'll be enjoying it while I'm grading mid terms. All I ask is that you give us a synopsis of how much fun you guys had.

I certainly hope someone will do a report. I'm really bad at those. But I can copy one over here if/when someone else writes one.

That was SO much fun, I can't believe how much fun it was. The other James (Badger) did such a good job setting it up!! I liked the looks we got as we purposefully strode the streets of Old Town in our Firefly costumes! At least the 'western' look fit in with that area too :)
