Having been hooked by Firefly from the outset, I finally managed to watch Serenity the other night.

Bloody hell Joss! Yet again you do that sneaky "Tara" thing and kill off a character we love! Gorram!

Given the emotional trauma I've now suffered I demand that Joss makes amends by giving us another dose of the 'Verse.

P.S. Kill Keylee and I'll come a'gunnin' for you!

He really is a bastard for killing wash and book, especially wash. But he does it in such a genius way it's so hard to stay mad at him lol. The death of wash just completely makes you believe that everyone is going to die, that none of them are going to make it through this (well, jayne might lmao)

But yea, I love wash. And I still love Joss (bastard lol)

whedon is a mad genius...likes to twist the plot from time to time...i'm thinking Wash will pop back up yet..i mean look at Mal..i know he died once already, and should have died numerous times from gunshots, sabre wounds...knifes....severe beatings....on an on...after all what's a little thing like a giant stake through the chest!..."just a graze, doc...i'll be fine..."

in the end though, if Wash and Book, or any other characters never make it back to the big, small screen or shiny little disc thingies....i still have to give the old man Joss a big Shiny thanks for giving us what he did...nothing wrong with being greedy except, you know, being greedy.... but you also have to be thankful for what you've got.

And remember River can see ghosts or at least hear them.

I can hear them all and they're saying nothing!"

I dunno. The death of Wash just completely made me believe that I was going to die, right there in the theatre! My heart stopped. My lungs lost all their air. My brain exploded.

Joss, I need CPR: Complete Plot Rewrite! Please?

Can't say my brain exploded but it certainly took my breath away and left me stunnned. Also triggered a thought pattern that went along the lines of" Noooooooooooooooo, not Wash! Can't kill Wash! He's married, to Zoe the beautiful warrior woman, wash has got GREAT humour...

But yeah, that's Joss - had totally forgot the Tara thing. And then there's the Doyle thing. Hey - I should have seen this coming, now that I think about it a little more.

I'll be in Jaynes bunk

...And Jenny and Cordelia and Fred and Wes--um actually I was happy to see Wes go. Just never took a likin' to him.

Yeah, I felt I should have seen it coming, too. *grumblegrumblegrumble* Gorramit! I want them back and I want 'em back pronto!

Well I was aiming to not spoil the big surprise, but now the cat's out of the bag.

Thanks for the welcome folks, I'll be wearing my Hawaiian shirt in honour of Wash! Even the 'lil woman won't begrudge me that - she almost screamed when the deed was done.

You could edit the subject of your top post and put (spoilers) in it.

Really, I think there are 6 billion people who haven't seen the movie yet.

I didn't mind that they killed Wash and Book, I never mind the killing of characters if it leads to character development for everyone else. But I was really disappointed with Book's screen time in the movie. Especially after watching the specials on the box set and Ron Glass talking about how he would love to get to be Book again - This was before the movie :(

Yeah, walked out of the cinema having both really loved and hated the film (for the Wash and Book deaths!) and boy, did it make me fear for the rest of the cast? 'specially when Simon got shot and was saying goodbye to River!!!

I agree that the film needed the deaths to make the peril seem real, and it does (IMHO) make the film better for it. But I really lament the loss of those great characters (Wash was such a cool, fun character) and Book...there was still so much more to know!

Also, it's kinda sad that after all the cast went through after the cancellation - to be amazingly resurrected only to have two of them killed off seemed really cruel.

But I suppose we should have expected it from Joss. He's a genious and a great writer, but he's not afraid to kill off the ones we love, and it took a while before I could forgive that with Serenity - but I can't hold a grudge against Joss, and I love Serenity. But yeah - he'd better not kill of Kaylee! (there's more than one Simon with his eye on her....)

- Shiny. let's be bad guys.

Hey, maybe Zoe could be pregnant? She said in "Heart of Gold" that she wanted a child by Wash!

We can but hope that a Wash Jr will appear 9 months later.

I have to admit when I saw Wash die in the theatre I was shocked. I had never seen the series but normally I can predict the ending for movies very well. They follow a set of "rules" most of the time and Wash's death ignored that. He was also killed very abruptly too. The more I watch Firefly and the more emotional I seem to get about Wash's death. About Book being killed, when I first saw the movie I didn't care too much. I had no clue he was ever even on the ship. But of course after watching the series he is my 2nd favorite character and now his scene gets me every time as well. Then there's the fact that I may never know Books story.

Book being killed off is similar to Joss dustin' Giles in a new Buffy venture. He added a subtle conscience to the crew (i hate to use the term morality).
It's a shame that we won't get to know Book's back-story.
We all know he wasn't always a shepherd, so can this be another movie thread: Serenity II- Book's Legacy?

C'mon Joss, isn't that an enticing idea?

U guys gotta unserstand. These people are in the smuggleing business. They're all lucky they made it this far. It'd also be kind of wierd if everyone on board was a couple at once [Wash/Zoe,Simon/Kaylee, Mal/Inara (we all know it's gonna happen)]. Also, at the end u see River flying the boat. Helllooo? pshicic? can see anything comin before it happens? But they'lle probably play GOD and bring Wash back to life.

I love my captain

It's very sad that hey are gon and all but I'm sure I've heard that the entilre crew (Wash and Book included) will be back if there's a sequel. I'm guessing flashbacks.
Also, just 'cause Book is dead don't mean you can't find out his past.
Either way, they will both be missed.
