Was anyone else disappointed with Joss's Serenity commentary? Maybe my expectations were too high to start with, but it is just sticking in my mind as a two hour long monologue about the move from TV to film.

I think it could just be that I'm always disappointed by commentaries. I want them to be more about back stage anecdotes than how many times the spinning wheel of death could be shown, or lots of stuff I already knew about the cast doing their own stunts.

Also, I really would have loved a cast commentary as well.

Other than that though, so glad to have my DVD of the BDM that shouldn't have happened!

When I think of an interesting signature you'll be the first to know.

I couldn't believe there was no commentary form atleast Nathan.

Joss's love affair with Alan Green got really boring.

... yeah... I think a really great special edition DVD feature would be a few more commentaries going on there. Had some really interesting stuff, and I always like to listen to Joss ramble on, but commentaries tend to be a bit better with at least two people there. (Evidence the solo-Joss movie commentary. People tend to ramble, having someone else there helps to keep from sticking to the same topics sometimes, IMHO.)

And I really like the lighting in Firefly and Serenity, so it's interesting to hear some of that stuff, but yeah... After awhile it's like: enough with the lighting! ;p

I guess it must have been, since that's not even his name.

Tuned out to his name, thats how repetative and boring the commentary became and my DVD is on loan.

I remember the last name was Green.

It'd have been better if they had directors commentary then commentary with Nathan/Adam/Summer etc

I always like when the cast just sit there and talk over the film.

I thought Joss's commentary was okay, but I, too, was disappointed that there weren't actor's commentaries.

I think I mentioned here previously how good I thought the "LOTR: Return of the King" actor's commentary was, and was wishing that "Serenity" had done one, too.

I can only imagine how great it would be for Nathan, Adam, Alan, and the rest to be ranting on about the movie in a commentary. I'd pay money just for that.

Perhaps we will have a shiny edition of the DVD in which we'll have commentary by the actors and lots of shiny extras.

I for one will buy it! Bet lots of other folks will too.

Joss wanted to have a crew commentary for the DVD but he could never get all of the BDH's together at the same time to do it. He's said that if and when another edition of Serenity comes out, he's going to try to have a cast commentary on there as well.

The commentary was great. Backstage anecdotes etc. don't really play very well with only one person behind the mic - you need one to tell the story and another to laugh at it ;)

I didn't think it was as good as the Firefly commentaries. I wish Joss could have at least got one cast member to do it with him - the Joss/Nathan commentary of Serenity-the-pilot-episode was excellent. Joss's solo commentary of Objects in Space was good but that was because he didn't just talk about the episode but went into depth about the philosophy that inspired it.

Seeing how many obsessive fans there are I'm sure it'd would be worth the money for them to release a super-shiny edition with cast commentary. Maybe they could all get together and do it at one of the conventions or something.

There is another option: They could record it seperately and put it together scene-wise like they did with the Alien Quadrilogy. You'll lose interactivity this way but it's better than nothing.

I must agree. It started to ramble and I would appreciate one with the actors' commentary, at least two. Hmmm... here's hoping.

Wacky Fun..
