Trust is an interesting thing. Looks great on paper, but in practice it’s a complete waste of time because in the end you can’t trust anyone, or is it just me? In the course of my jaded existence I have been betrayed by 4 people…the last one was, well, incredible, and the price of that insane encounter was $78,000 plus my soul, and a score of friends, who just happen to be in the way.

The betrayal which still smarts and comes first to mind was by my professor/graduate advisor. One of the guys in the lab stole my speaking position at a scientific conference and referred to me using The C Word in his lab notebook after I caught him stealing chemicals from me. My advisor let him get away with everything until I went to several people in the administration. Graduate school only sucks because there are so many a$$holes here.
