Just caught the episodes on sci-fi. It's good enough for me to forgive Dr. Who not having a scarf.

What did you all think?

Being a long time fan, I was actually impressed.

Loved the whole 'fan' thing. Very funny. Sort of like the "Hard to get to?!?" thing from Serenity.

I'm really liking the relationship between the Doctor and Rose. More intimate, more chummy. He's less of a fuddy-duddy.

My friend from Ipswitch says by sixth episode we won't be able to STOP watching.

Episode 9 and 10 are the scariest thing I have ever seen. I will never look at children or gas-masks in the same way again.

The Doctor hasn't had a scarf since the Tom Baker days...

The next Doctor (Peter Davidson) had a stalk of celery in his lapel, which took some getting used to, but amused me more later on.

The first episode last night was kind of hard for me to get into since it took place in modern times on Earth, but the second one (where they went to see the end of the Earth) was certainly fun! Reminded me of the older days, more like what I was used to. I LOVED the skin thing. That cracked me up! Some great lines, such as the one where Rose says she's going over to talk to Michael Jackson!

It was great to hear the Dr. Who theme again and I'm really looking forward to seeing more episodes!

I saw clips online at the BBC site and I'm so glad to finally be able to see the whole thing.
Watched both eps last night. Actually, watched the first episode, the second and half of the first again before I finally passed out. (It's been one of those weeks at work.)
Since I taped the shows, I'm going to watch again.
The only problem I have with Sci-Fi's broadcast is the bloody commercials.
Oh.My.God. Talk about interrupting of The Flow!
What is this? 5 minutes of program, commercials, 5 minutes of program, commercials.
You can tell that this show was made for not having commercial breaks.
Too bad Sci-Fi couldn't convince one of its advertisers to just sponsor the whole show. Remember when Ford did that for the first episode of Season 2 of "24"? They showed a 5 minute commercial and broadcast the 2 hour premier sans ads. Of course there was product placement. If you don't think every car in the show was a Ford of some sort, you're crazy!
Ah well, dispite the plethora of blipv--I mean adverts, I liked the show and a looking forward to upcoming episodes.
Eggleston is a wonderful Doctor and Billie Piper is a breath of fresh air.
She looks like a human woman. I mean, what's that...does she appear to have actual flesh on her frame? Dang! What a concept!
Oh, by the way, I watched Dr Who on PBS back when I was in college. Been a fan for a long time, and I'm glad to see the series revived in a good way.

The first 2 episodes were the weakest, but the rest were fantastic. Empty Child, Unquiet Dead, Aliens of London. Liked Captain Jack.

I hope in season 2 they visit alien planets.

You've been VERY VERY bad! Go to your room!

I have a few issues with Billie Piper. I find her deeply irritating. There are many, many more talented and under-used actresses in the UK who could've done wonders with the part of Rose.

It's all so wonderfully British, though. It doesn't matter that everything looks a bit shoestring. It's got some lovely ideas and real atmosphere.

Personal favourite episode- the one with Rose's dad. That one aired in the US yet?

Must disagree. Billie Piper was brilliant. Long intro in Rose? Carried it well.

She has been following a very low profile acting career in good low budget stuff that requires real acting.

Because she has the pop history, there was a certain amount of "...cast including Billie Piper, this'll be a right laugh...hang on, that was actually very good..." And that means good by any standard.

No critic writes her off lightly.

After viewing the intial two episodes, I think Piper (Rose) is going to be one of the best companions the Doctor has had.

Does that seem right to you?

I may be the only one who could not stand Peri. The whiniest companion anyone in any series has ever had. I could not tolerate her crying and whining all the time.

Does that seem right to you?

There is one other person who didn't like Peri-me. The male companion I dislike the most was Adric.

When I think "Dr. Who" I think "low tech". Yeah yeah...I know they have come a long way since the Tom Baker days, but do you remember the black & white episodes? Monsters that were obviously garbage bags and metal trash cans....LOL. Despite that, it was still fun.

The only "special effect" I found REALLY cheesy were the historical photos showing Dr. Who. Doesn't anoyne on the other side of the pond know how to use Photoshop??

Yes, we know the Photoshop.

It sells the glue and scissors you need to get that "special" effect.

Shame about Clive.

(Is it me, or can anyone else no longer hear the word "special" in anyone's voice but Book's?)
