everyone should be aware, that at this point in time, Nathan only has 33% of the votes, while 51% think Harrison should be doing it until he falls over in his walker and breaks a hip.

Sean Connery gave up 007 I think it's time for Harrison Ford to pass the torch as well. Although Harrison Ford is still a damn fine looking man to me. He's just a tad bit old to be pulling Indy's stunts. I'm concerned for his health here.

Silunaka, you sound like a born Nathan Appreciator.

First off, yea, Nathan would make a fine Indy. He's got the acting ability to do it and he does his own stunts and wouldn't it be nice if Indy had a love interest and got to kiss someone. Yea, I could like that.

Back again to the Nathan Appreciatin'. We Nathanaholics or Malaholics, whichever term you prefer and I answer to both have a thread over on the other Browncoat Board in which we discuss Nathan daily. Thought you might be interested, if so ask and I'll be happy to share the link with you.

Secondly.. you are new and we greet new folks with a virtual browncoat and a smile .. so...

I don't know... that's just wrong. Unless the movie takes place twenty years later and he goes after...an artifact that proves aliens built the pyramids. No, wait that's been done already. I love Harrison Ford and two of the Jones movies. But he's just a little aged and Nathan would do a shiny job. Hell how many James Bonds have they had already?

I was unable to pass up the oportunity to vote for Indy: The Golden Years. Nathan has a fine sense of humor. I think he'll forgive me.

Personally, though, I would have liked to go for unlisted options d) there shouldn't be a fourth Indiana Jones. Goerge Lucas should go back to his ranch where he won't cause any more harm and Harrison Ford should pick a different film.

The score is now Nathan 41%, Ford 44%. We shall soo pull ahead.

I agree with thew comments that Harrison ford would be all right if the part is supposed to be for an older Indy (I almost hit the golden years option) but Nathan would do an awesome job. I liked the Bond comparison. Just keep Indy in an ageless limbo and give him countless adventures. When the current fellow is too old, give it to someone new. I like that idea.

Or maybe I just like the idea of Nathan in that fedora, or shirtless with a whip. Indy always loses his shirt at some point. Hmm...shirtless...

He'd make a *fine* Indiana. As to "doing his own stunts" - that gets worrisome. I don't want him to get hurt doing something dangerous or so painful that he loses count after 5. That's really not necessary. There's lots more fun ways to lose count after 5.

I'd be all for Nathan playing young Indy or a son (Illinois? :-p) and letting Ford totter onward until he retires.

As for Nathan doing his own stunts, it's time for him to stop hitting things with his face -- it's really, really time. Cauliflower is on the way.

If I could get through to him with that message and know it had any effect I'd rest easy and never bother him again.

Nathan, let the stunt doubles earn their pay and demonstrate their training. Please! We know what a macho man you are already.

And happy birthday, too.

I agree Harrison Ford is Indiana Jones. Too bad they waited a flipping 17 years before getting around to doing another film.

Since they have taken this long, Ford is now several years older than Sean Connery was during the shooting of "The Last Crusade" in which he played Indy's father.

As far as Nathan being too young, he just turned 35 making him only a couple years younger than Ford was(37-38)while making "The Raiders of the Lost Ark" which was released in 1981.

I watched the "Younger Years" series, I bought the novels and either way, I'll go see this movie hoping-against-hope that this franchise doesn't get screwed up too.

Well...as of 3:44 EST, it's neck and neck at 43%!

And while I have always enjoyed Harrison Ford as Indy, I think it's time the fedora and whip are passed along.

However, I gots me a compromise idea: Indy follows Cortez's or whomever's footsteps to find the Fountain of Youth, finds it, gets accidently dunked in it for a few seconds and out can come Nathan....kinda cheesy, but with the right polish job, it could work;)

I voted Harisson Ford. I grew up watching Indy, I can honestly not think of anyone else doing it.

As long as they write Indy's age into the film, it will be fine. He will be able to pass as an Indy in his 50's, I highly doubt they will be going for an ultra young Indy.

I wish Nathan all the sucess in his career, but Indy is a role I do not want to see him in. Can you imagine the critism this role would bring? The Malcolm Reynolds/Han Solo comparisons were bad enough in Firefly/Serenity.

I'm sorry, but Ford owns this role.

I guess i have to go with the nathan would work as a young indy or 'son of indy' I think harrison has nailed the original too much to be replaced.

well just my two cents.

FYI it was Ponce de Lyon who searched for the Fountain of Youth. Cortez was the one responsible for pretty much wiping out the Aztec Empire.

Nathan would definatly be a better choice for the role in this day and age.
Ford is too old for the role. I cant see him running and jumping around, and knowing there is a stunt double on the screen will spoil the movie.

Is'nt Harrison Ford the same age as Connery was when he appeared as Indy's father in the last movie.

As for what do I think - well, Nathan of course.
That being said, I too grew up with Ford playing Indy and loved him. At this point though I think he is just too old and he's not plausible as Indy, unless it is an Indy that around Ford's own age. In which case, Nathan could still play indy for the flashback scenes....Hmmmm, i wonder if we could get Adam in the movie with Nathan....

A for HF fans resenting NF taking Indy's role, that's probably unavoidable. I'm thinking they will some of them become converts pretty quickly though. The rest of them can just join our lobby for "The Return of MAL!", and get Mr. Fillion back on Serenity where he belongs.

Why not this....

Indiana Jones goes on an adventure, starts feeling his age, and decides to have a nephew/godson/etc... (played by Nathan "Sex God" Fillion) come along to help him on his next job.

This would set up all kinds of young bull vs. old bull dynamics...and Indy could also find himself "turning into his dad" at times and so fighting it. This could also be a total chance for the tourch to be passed while still giving Harrison Ford his due.

Had to vote Ford, myself. Much as I dig our good ol' captain, Ford will always be Indy for me. Just like I don't want anyone else to play Mal in the Firefly revival in 20 years.

Besides, they've just announced they have a script they're all happy with. They have also said that this script deals with Indy's age. So that makes Nathan a bit young for the role.

And for those who think it "won't be the same" with a stuny double: you don't think that was really Ford getting dragged under that truck in "Raiders", do you?

Last I heard rumor-wise on the new Indy movie, is that it's about Indiana Jones training someone new. Almost like Batman Beyond on the WB. In this case, I think Nathon Fillion makes a good student to Harrison Ford. But I'm sorry - there's just no replacing Indiana Jones. I think Nathan is awesome and a great actor. All fanboy aside, I think he could have deserved an Oscar nod this year - almost never before have I seen someone embody a character as much as Nathan is Mal. However, Harrison will always be Indy. Indiana Jones is NOT like James Bond. Having a different actor isn't the same thing. It'll feel like a cheap knock-off movie if it isn't Harrison Ford.

But like I said, I heard there was a newcomer who Indy is 'training.' And for that role, I'd be happy to see Nathan Fillion.

Harrison is, and always will be, Indy.

I did think River Phoenix was interesting in the younger role but if they're going to make a new Indy movie I wanna see Ford up there on the screen.

Now don't get me wrong. Its not like I'd wanna see Ford play Captain Tightpants or anybody else for that matter, but that just adds to my feeling about it. There are certain roles that should only be played by one actor and that's that.

Mal is Nathan and Indy is Harrison...its just the way it is ;)

Only reason Indiana Jones "isn't like James Bond" is a timing issue. Folks felt exactly the same way about Connery and Bond at the time (and Connery wasn't even the first guy to play Bond!). We've already seen 4 other guys play Indiana Jones at different stages in his life, so the precedent exists.
