That's 'suggested interperative' sound layed in as a kindness for the non-Firefly fans, not literal recorded sound. If it were real sound, it would REALLY IRRITATE me too!
So I'm glad it's just 'suggested interperative' sound.

BTW, to the producers: there are no non-Firefly fans who watch your show; you can turn the 'suggested interperative' felgercarb off in future eps.

Chrisisall, LAUNCH!

Speaking as a former aircraft technician in Uncle Sams Traveling Air Circus ...

The point of which machine is better is one best left to the mechanics who maintain the beasts.

Ask the Chief about the PIP factor.

Raptor or Viper: Which is less likely to dump a gallon of hydralic fluid on you? Which is less likely to rip the backs of your knuckles off opening panels? Which is easier to crawl around inside of and bend your tibia and fibia in three places to get to what engineers should have put in an easier place at design stage.

Pilots will take out perfectly good aircraft (or spacecraft) and they'll come back broke. I don't want to hear about pulling G's and having Cylons shoot at you and nebula clouds mucking up your canopy. Frac that noise. Bring my machines back in good condition!!!

Ok I've started watching the eps I missed.

So far... man-warriors and -man-pilots are incompetent buffoons. Consistent. But thankfully we got chick fighter jocks flying vipers... we're all safe. At least I finally got a whole episode where people (all women) are fighting cylons instead of whining day and night about how dysfunctional and fucked up their lives are ("Scar ep.").

Oh. Then there's this. I kept seeing this when I was watching SG-1 and SG-A in commercials.

"Adama" quote: "I'm not gonna sacrifice a military asset on your altar of revenge."

WTF?? Pompous dialogue given to a man whose acting is (1) hideous, and (2) a pure fuckin sleeping pill.

Jesus. Who needs sedatives when you can record that line and play it over and over in an endless loop. I finally saw the fantabulous super-dooper ep where the terrorists take over the bar on Cloud-9 and E.J. Olmos has to break out all badass and make this pronouncement. What a fuckin disastrous retarded thing to write into the script. I can't believe these incompetent ass-clowns at scifi chan would dare put this in a commercial and force it down my throat again and again and again and again while I'm trying to watch the shows I love. Whores. All of them. What? The plug from the quote whores at "Rolling Stone" magazine didn't boost the ratings enough?

I guess not.

What's next? Hamlet starring "Gilbert Godfrey" and "Ben Stein"?

Bah.

Dear Xerogravity,

I promised myself that I would ignore you but I really must thank you for clarifying things.

I get it. You don't like the new Galactica. Thank you for explaining it ad nauseum.

We're attempting to have a discussion about a show the others in this thread DO like.

Instead of being able to enjoy a discussion, we keep getting treated to you explaining to us how we're all stupid and how you don't enjoy the new Galactica.

We get it. You can go find something else to do now.

In the spirit of mutual cooperation, I'd like to give you just a bit of advice on how to win friends and influence people -- or how to just not irritate them beyond their ability to treat you as an adult.

Far be it from me to censor your speech; however, I would suggest finding some new words in your vocabulary.

Your extensive vocabulary has aided you in all of your ever so persuasive arguments. Just to let you know that the ability to form an intelligent argument without resorting to obscenity is an asset. I'd also like to ask if you kiss your grandmother with your mouth.

I'm bored tonight so I decided to kill 5 minutes by pasting all of your comments in this thread and running a check in word of the contents.

In your many needless posts, you have used:

Shit – 16 times
Fuck – 19 times
Whore - 20 times
Ass - 26 times
Bitch - 1 time
Gay (as a bigoted term) - 9 times
Dick - 2 times

Go on. Rip me up one side and down the other about how I'm oppressing you. Go on, Frau Nipples and the Nazi high-kicking scoobie gang or whatever it is you are ranting about this week, has given you permission to act like a Jr. High student with a magic marker and a whole bunch of bathroom walls at your disposal.

You, Xero, need a hobby real bad. Go find one and please, please, please, leave the discussion to folks who are actually discussing the show.

Where is Haken when you need to him stamp out a roach?

Go away. The roach motel has an open room booked for you.

XeroVonGravity,

What a bitter, little Hushpuppy you are! I guess they aren’t feeding you enough in that work-release program that you’re in.

Your dysfunctional review of BSG is as always…extreme and full of the same, old nonsense, and as usual, you sound like you are about to cry! Is BSG that bad for you? Get a clue! The episodes are well written, and all the actors and actresses they picked are good enough for the roles, though I do have some issues with Grace Park’s acting abilities, but that’s another story that I rather not get into right now. E.J. Olmos makes the perfect Admiral Adama. Lorne Green was okay playing Adama, but I prefer E.J. Olmos’s acting style better. It’s dry, low-key, and thoughtful, and most importantly, it’s believable. He looks like a commanding officer and he acts like one too. I think you are way into the late 70s view of things. You want a bunch of fair-haired looking Luke Skywalkers and cigar chomping, womanizing, Starbucks running around firing their blasters and rescuing a bunch of stupid, helpless females, who can’t do for themselves. You don’t like this show because not all the men are in charge of everything. The men on the show seem to be sharing power with the women and I think that is what really annoys you the most. I guess you are used to shows where the whole show is about a man’s ego and he’s central to the very plot of that show. Well, get over it and grow the hell up because the new Battlestar Galactica is here to stay. Time for you to join the modern world bubblehead.

The episodes are very well done, and the action and drama is the sort of thing that keeps us coming back for more. The show is a fine balance between the masculine and the feminine…there’s something for everyone in this new BSG. The new twists with the Cylons are great! I like them better than the original ones. The original Cylons were a complete bore, but I liked their base ship and their Raiders, but the whole “Imperious Leader” idea was stupid and childish, and only fit for Saturday morning television for children, or people with bubblegum for brains.

I know you want to keep the “Brady Bunch view of BSG, but its changed into a more interesting world so, just stick with your SG-1 shows, or that complete boxed set of Gilligan’s Island DVDs I know you have, and leave our show alone. Better yet, go over to the sci-fi boards, and go into the Battlestar Galactica forum and repeat there what you just wrote in here…they would 1st insult you, and then ban your ass off the board.
Wise group of people if you ask me.

MOSS

I saw BSG before seeing Firefly on DVD.

I have enjoyed both immensley, although I feel that it is unfair to compare the 2 shows becuase they are both about a different subject matter. Sure they are both SciFi but the genre covers such a wide spectrum.

I have never felt that Digital and computer effects have been able to capture the authentic feel of old school photographic effects, the lighting never seems right however, the special effects guys have done a perfect job on Firefly & BSG, the best Digital effects I have seen so far.

So far as the content of both shows goes I think both have raised the mark. For a long time I have merely been a spectator, the only show in recent years that have enjoyed has been Star Trek Voyager but it wasn't enything that hadn't been seen already as it almost mirrored the original series.

BSG messes with your head, is can be slow at times and my only criticism is that it is too character focused with not enough emphasis on the mamoth journey being undertaken. Other than that the first thing I thought when I say BSG was "this is damn good" and this still holds true. I have just seen part 1 of the Pegasus episodes and the writers
have done a fantastic job, real edge of the seat stuff.

I started a thread titled "hasn't scifi got better lately? and everone who responded agreed.

The true acid test has been my wife, who usually only watches Friends, frazier, Desperate Housewives & Sex in the City. She hates SciFi with a passion (except for Star trek, she likes Pickard)She has been brought to tears by watching Firefly and has been aguing with me about wherther Adama is a Cylon, I also think that she fancies Lee Adama.

In conclusion, I love both. And whoever says otherwise has lost the plot.

"Where the hell did I leave those plans?"

There you go again. Reading absurd notions into what I write. I have no problem with women warriors (in fact, I find it kinda sexy). But is it necessary to emasculate every man in the show?

Ok. Like Apollo for example. Katie Sackhoff is buck nekkid, rarin to go, and ready to make a little thunder between the sheets. Apollo, Mr. limp-noodle, backs off at the last minute. Someone get this fool some viagra.

But I can relate in a way. There was that time when my boat sunk in the Carribean and I was rescued by a yacht filled with lingerie and swimsuit models. I had to spend the next few months being the only man onboard a pleasure craft entirely manned by nymphomaniac supermodels. It was hard to hold onto my virtue and chastity (for at least the 1st 15 minutes).

Believe me. You can't know the hellish torments I had to endure. Not to mention the perils of the sea. More than once I had to dive overboard to save one of the swimming models from a man-eating shark. Do you have any idea how hard it is to beat down a tiger shark with a martini glass? It ain't easy.

Ready to be shocked?

Just polished off the final 1/2 of season 2 finale. I will be tuning in for season 3. Holy shit. Hell froze over, pigs are flying, the sun has exploded, and Frau Knibblet stopped goose-stepping and started disco dancing. The whole world got silly. And there was much rejoicing.

Since Frau Nipples is my self-proclaimed opressor, I was all ready to form up a resistance movement. Frankly, I'm a little wet behind the ears when it comes to resisting opression. In fact, I didn't even know "she" was my oppressor, or that I was "oppressed", until she said so.

There is something very sexy and "tres shiek" about being oppressed. Why? Who cares. It just is.

I grew a long-ass beard, bought a 1950's Korean War set of Olive drab duds, I even started smoking cigars. I've moved onto an island and am living in the mountains ~ gonna recruit me some peasant guerilla fighters. I'm even gonna get that gorrilla-chick "Jane Goodall" to help me train them.

XG opression must end! Vive la non-XG opression.

Damn that's catchy.

Yes. I actually am coming around on the new BSG. It still sucks donkey balls on so many levels, but the last few eps FINALLY brought some seemingly directionless story arcs into focus. And Baltar just got kinda sleazy in a suddenly believable sort of way. Shit. I wanna hang out with him and debauche the ladies. Don't make me president cuz I would outdo him on how many lingerie-wearing bimbos I'd bring into the presidential office. It would be a "chicks gone wild" episode to rewrite the history books.

It's my second favourite show of all time, and like the title says, it's kinda dark. But it shows people surviving losses and pushing on, I guess that's why I like it. Plus- lots of cool fight scenes. The second season gets a little 'genetic anomoly' filled, but it's all good.
It's the best $70 (for both sets) I ever spent.

Good luck, if you decide to accept this mission.

But correct you are. She was only fishing for compliments with that picture.

She's obviously attractive, but posts her pic and whines about how ugly she "is".

Cry me a fuckin river "River90210".

xg (90210?)

You fit my theory of why there are so many jerks on the 'net. Cause it's the only place you can mouth off like that without gettin' the snot kicked out of ya.

River - is that picture you? If so: VERY ATTRACTIVE

Time for some thrilling heroics.

Attractive? OMG! You have such low standards! I don't think so! I thought it would be a good idea to let you jokers see the freak show which is myself, so you at least have an image to hate and loath, and shake your collective fists at. In the end, who really cares?

River

Nah, I just dig older women... ;) :p

Time for some thrilling heroics.

No it hasn't occured to me that you truly think that and I wouldn't believe it if you said so. I guess fake humility is better than having you run around saying "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful."

Only 2 types of men would find you unattractive. Richard Simmons-types and men who have au ugly-fetish.

There are actually men who have a thing for ugly chicks. It's actually quite a wise philosophy...

Marry an ugly chick. She'll never leave you, and if she does, who cares?

XG

No such thing as gravity. The "Earth-that-was" just sucks.
