"New York Browncoat arranged a theater in Albany, NY 2,800 seat theater..."

Tickets aren't on sale for that one just yet. Soon, my pretties, soon...

And you all in the North East are coming... right? Right!?

Just a quick question about these special screenings (btw, we need one in Denver, CO!).

Do the ticket sales at these events count towards the official box office takings? Just wondering...

I can't speak for all of the screenings, but Universal is getting a portion of the ticket sales at the NY showing, so I would think that would count towards the BO total for the movie. *shrugs*

But what you first need is a Browncoat in the Denver, CO! area to contact a theater.

And hint hint Here are two theaters in CO that were playing serenity in December.

CO 80012 Aurora Buckingham Mall Cinema
CO 80231 Denver Tiffany Plaza 6

see http://www.cantstoptheserenity.com for more info. And there is also a yahoo group there to discuss the charity screenings.

The screenings are at theaters and Browncoats are collecting money for charity at the screenings. Tickets are bought. Universal gets their cut of either a set fee or percent of ticket sales WHICHEVER is higher. So the ticket sales count towards the official box office takings just like First-run and Second-run theaters and such.

Will we ever see the updated numbers? That depends. http://imdb.com (Internet Movie Database) says "If the film grosses a significant additional amount of money, final numbers are usually posted a few months after the film has been pulled from theaters" "significant"???

Since Universal is getting their cut like normal, there has to be a spreadsheet or database somewhere at Universal that this money will get added to.

Thought you ought to know, that the Riverview theater in Minnesota is showing Serenity this weekend, for midnight screenings. Both Friday and Saturday.
