#1 Matrix sequals-I mean who didn't see that coming?
#2 The Lord of The Rings-I fell alseep. Also I saw the first one twice in one week. Too much too soon and it wasn't that good.
#3-Cant think of the thrid most disapointing. I can only rember screaming you B#####ds at the screen at the end of reloaded. I was basically living out of reach of technology so I didn't know about the trilogy thing. No one kill me for not liking Lord of the rings. However for a fun slightly naughty spoof try The Lord Of the G-Strings. Misty Mundae is just so much fun.

Are you kidding me!?

You actually saw the movie? I couldn't stand 10 minutes, and I just walked away(I didn't go see it in theaters, my brother was watching it and I just decided that no, no I will not watch this).

I think I stopped watching it at the part with the animated cat dancing...which was in the opening credits...

As for my 3:
1)Saw 2 - Dreadful, nothing but mindless gore, and too many characters
2)Star Trek Nemesis - Young Picard clone!? WTF!?
3)Alien 3 - I would also have said Aliens 4, but in my mind that movie never got made.

1. Kill Bill, I guess I expected more from ol' Quentin and also Uma had her moments in Pulp Fiction but thats as much as I can take

2. Episode 1, wtf this one was just a total blow to the whole galaxy, looked like a "queer eye" makeover with soap opera dialogue and personalities like Jar-Jar. In fact ep 1-3 could be cut down to maybe 1 decent movie.

3. Alexander, wow they really blew it with this one

and there are plenty more..

Lord of the Rings? Which one?
That was a seriously good set of movies. Yes, they were long, a little overdone, but that was Peter Jackson being true to the nature of the books. I thought LOTR was very high up there with books made into movies, above Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (not great, but I really like how they diverged from the plot and kept the same silly atmosphere), and with I, Robot and Last of the Mohicans.

Side note, just because I want to.
I really think I, Robot is the best adaptation of a book. If you haven't read it, I, Robot is a series of short stories detailing unexpected protocal from new, untested robots. The movie took the I, Robot world (with one notable exception of having robots on earth) and wrote another story, longer and more dramatic, that would fit perfectly in with the other stories.

oh, ya..... I forgot to say how much I just don't like Napoleon Dynamite, Alexander, Pulp Fiction, Resident Evil 2, and Spider-Man. I so much wanted to like all of these movies (except Napoleon-I just had to see what the fuss was about. It turns out there was none. It sucked. Incredibly. That and Date Movie have to be THE worst movies EVER).

I've never been a fan of Tarantino's work, but I do admire his work ethic. He does what he wants, when he wants, and makes the kind of movies he likes.

Once Upon A Time in Mexico was disappointing. I didn't hate it, I just thought there would be more to it. Like Salma Hayek and explosions.

Wow I forgot aobut Starship Troopers, and then they made a sequel that was much worse.

I never looked forward to Battlefield Earth and while The Stand was not great, I thought it was one of the best king book to tv productions.

I view Kill Bill 1 and 2 as an entire movie and together they are great. If you just few one its not that great.

I agree with you on Alexander that movie was an unconfortable 2 and half hours in the theatre.

My greatest movie letdown is Ultraviolet yes i went to see it. The director of Equilibrium with Mila Jonavich kicking ass I thought this should be awesome. I was wrong the movie was so ridiculous i couldn't stop myself from laughing. Terrible Terrible Movie.

I completely agree. Although I couldn't list this one as a letdown cause I wasn't looking forward to it in the first place. I just saw it cause of Milla Jovovich.

OK I just have to say, I loved that movie. I thought it was hi-larious. It was campy and crazy. I love all the weird cheesy scifi-ness of it. And I loved the explantion for the zombies.

I couldn't agree with you more. I HATE that movie!!!! At the end of it I was like 'WTF!!! Why the hell did this piece get so much critical acclaim?!?' I'm sorry, but at the end I didn't want my money back, I wanted my memory earsed and my time back, thank you very much. I still cringe when I see Naomi Watts, which is sad because in general I like the movies she picks, but "Muholland Drive" was the first thing I saw her in, so I just can't disconnect her from it in my head.

Oh and Alexander, in my opinion quite possibly the worst movie I have ever seen. If you've seen it you know what I mean and if you haven't seen it DON'T. Some bad movies are fun to watch because they're so bad it's funny; Alexander go barreling on past that level of bad and straight into, I never should have been made because I have no redeeming qualities what so ever.

Quite a lot of diversity here but I think I should put in my 2 cents. I must be crazy for doing this but I have to say I like Matrix:Reloaded. True it had so much more potential but I still really liked it. Revolutions though went right out the window.

1. War of the Worlds- I don't care much for Tom Cruise anymore, but I really thought this movie looked at least decent. Too much games with CG and wasn't what I expected at all. The ending was the worst of any movie I have seen.

2. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire- This movie was so disappointing. I haven't read the books but I expected so much more from this movie. This was actually the first Harry Potter movie I saw in theaters and it may be the last.

3. X2&3 I agree with someones comment above about no Gambit. I was told by online sources he was going to be in it then at the last minute he was taken out. X3 looks very good but from what I hear still no Gambit. The writers didn't think they could come up with a good way to tie him in. Last I knew writers were creative, but that excuse is quite a joke.

Halle Berry also demanded more time and money or she was gone, so she got her way. Over the last few months I've heard so many rumors about X3, and it looks like it'll be a decent movie at least, but Gambit is one of the most charismatic characters (and my favorite as well).

Okay... I thought I had blocked it out of my head, and there you go mentioning it. Thanks ;p

Aliens 4 bugged me just because I thought the talent behind it should have made it at least a little better. Jeunet with most of his regular cast, Winona Ryder (rrowrr :)... Nice visuals, but... a Ripley clone? The questions that spring from that alone... must not rant...

And another that has up and sprung from the depths of my blocked memories: Aliens vs. Predator. Guh. Talk about a fanboy wankfest and ripping off of... Stargate? Actually, I've read the comics and the novels that some of the story was pulled from. Could've been halfway decent if it'd stuck a bit more to that... Just... there is nothing good about that movie.

So, yeah. There's my new three. Basically any Aliens movie other than Alien and Aliens. And Highlander 2, which doesn't count 'cause it doesn't exist of course.

Since this is the "Greatest Movie Letdowns" I'm going to embrace the loophole that I can group things together.

1) Star Wars Ep. 1-3
2) Matrix 2&3
3) Hmm, now I'm struggling. Hulk was the one movie I've almost walked out of. Maybe that goes here. I'll probably come up with something later and re-post.

Anyway on to the bad. I grew up on slasher flicks and Michael Myers was my favorite baddie. So believe me when I say Halloween III is one of the worst things ever put to celluloid. Are you kidding me? He wasn't even in the damn movie! It was about stupid masks that made snakes crawl out of people's heads. What a pile of trash.

BTW sequels never live up to the greatness of the original except in a few very rare cases. In that regard almost all sequels are letdowns.
