I recently watched the marathon the scifi channel had of Firefly a couple of weeks ago. I became so addicted to the show i went out and bought the whole box set of the siries as well as the movie Serenity.

Of course now watching everything i can leaves me wanting to watch more. Does anyone have any news as to if maybe, possabley even a glimmer of hope that the show might come back to tv.

Now a loyal Firefly fan ;P

Well, that's the million-dollar question, ain't it? So far, no solid news one way or another. Could be some time before anything solid happens, until then we do what we can. A good site to check out is http://www.browncoatsriseagain.com/ , that has a number of addresses to write to, including SciFi channel. The hope is that if one of these networks get tired enough of getting all these letters from us, they might eventually cave to common sense and give us what we want :)

Anyways, shiny to know that the marathon did exactly what we were hoping and drawing more to the cause. Welcome to our shiny little Haven out here in the black. I'm sure the others will be along shortly to issue browncoats and serve food. No need to dress, we're all casual here :)

Remember to keep the faith, spread the word, and hold the line.

The whole problem is that Fox didn't officially cancel Firefly, they put it on "hiatus", which basically means, "We're not going to order any new episodes, but we're blocking anyone else from doing anything with it unless they pay us ransom for it." It's kind of like cancelling the show AND giving the fans an ongoing finger.

FOX sucks.

So who is he?
He's my husband.
Well who in the damn galaxy ain't!

If you listen to the podcasts (The Signal and Firefly Talk) one of them sain that fox would release the rights to create a new show (even with the same cast and set on the very same ship) Also if they did block they have about 8 years for the date of the last episode that aired on Fox to "block" any new episodes from being made. I think Foxes biggest failure to Firefly and it's fans was to never watch a single episode of Firefly. They never gave it a chance.

We've done the impossible...
Let's do it again and again.

So then is that the reason the movie was titled 'Serenity' instead of 'Firefly,' or is that unrelated. I thought it a little odd to try to drum up support for a project and then change the title of it that a lot of people may not recognize.

HA! So did I! I'd never even heard of Firefly until the sci-fi channel aired the whole series as a leadup to the release of Serenity. I watched every episode, then ran out and bought the box set. I saw Serenity the day it came out. I was seated between two guys in long brown trenchcoats in the theater too! We started talking and that's how I found this site.

As for Firefly coming to the sci-fi channel, who knows? I think that if they can keep a crappy spinoff like Stargate: Atlantis on for, what is it, two, three seasons now, then Firefly definitely has a chance if they can get around the whole F*x hiatus thing (I doubt that they would be willin' to pay the royalties).

P.S. Just a personal message to certain F*x executives:

"We're gonna explode? I don' wanna explode!"

Oh, there's a petition going on on another thread. There are a couple of links yo different petitions to bring back Firefly. One has a little less than 900 signatures to have Firefly move to the Sci-fi channel. The other has just under 10,600 signatures to have irefly btought back on HBO or one of those types of networks. If you havn't already gone there, then move out, soldier! The thread is titled 'Sci-Fi petition (Firefly)'. We will rise again!

Heck, if SciFi was willing to start airing the new Doctor Who BBC series (finally!) and start a new Battlestar Galactica series, why not a new Firefly series? I also hear tell of a possible new Farscape (possibly their reason for bringing Ben Browder and Claudia Black onto SG-1; to get them 'into position' for a new series...)

SciFi Channel seems to be getting back in the business of real sci fi again... except for the god-awful B movies they keep producing! (Example: Snakehead fish do NOT attack people on land! I live in Maryland, where the damned things were found! LOL!!)

I agree if any tv channel can bring back Firefly my money would be on the Scifi channel. They have done a good job with Stargate even though im still not sure they needed to do the spin off of Atlantis. They have also done a great job on BSG also one of my favorate shows.

So everyone write to Scifi and keep hounding them about firefly

Welcome, equus108!
Forget that nasty protein until we're out of everything else.
More strawberries are just arriving in the galley, and there's a jug of cream in the cooler.
Somebody who has the key to the storeroom will be along soon (I think) to issue your browncoat.

We're all praying that Firefly gets back on the air. Unfortunately for FarScape, that show isn't coming back...Every single person (I heard near 10,000 in total that helped work the set) lost their jobs when the company that hosted the show went bankrupt. Farscape lost everything then...Shame, it was one of the few decent Australian hosted Television series.

I think if any movement happens..it will be a movie. Joss has said as much. Has anyone noticed on IMDB..all living characters in the 'verse are just about clear of work? "Filming" at the latest. NO ONE has new work.

Maybe I am just hoping hopelesly.....

One thing i did notice during the airing of Firefly on Scifi is that they changed the intro credits a bit. Is this a step to a new season. They redid the Stargate credits before that show started their new season.

Thanks for the Strawberries and cream Bunny beats that protien stuff any day ;)
