I am a big strapping grown man. However after the 14th watch of Serenity, at the end with River and Mal and he says 'I guess you already know what im gonna say', River replys 'Yes but I like to hear you say it' and then curls up her legs on the seat like a little girl listening to her fathers stories, that scene always leaves me with tears rolling down my cheeks. This is an expression of my true feelings which i can only express to you guys on this site as nobody else understands :)

I have always been a Firefly fan before Serenity however Serenity has won its way into my heart. What makes that film is what makes Firefly and that is the quality of the characters and actors. To me it just never gets old.

Yep, I get the same exact reaction, too :) Sometimes I sort of see it coming and it hits a little bit earlier, sometimes it starts right after Wash's "Leaf on the Wind" moment. Not exactly the most strapping specimen of masculinity, but I've never really cried at movies until this one. (Well, Braveheart used to always get me choked up, but you know... it's a War movie, so... :)

I tend to get misty eyed at the point after Simon gets shot when he's talking to River. I agree that moment at the end between Mal and River is very touching also. I'm so not manly

Yeah, that is one of the moments in "Serenity/Firefly", that this 6'400 pound man crys like ...well a "Girly" man.

P.S. *Sniff*

AM I NOT MERCIFUL?!?!?!?

Same here. I can't help but get all teary-eyed. It's a very beautiful scene.

I also cry when Simon gets shot and River says, "You take care of me, Simon. You've always taken care of me.", and then looks up and whispers, "My turn." That's an incredibly powerful moment.

its so difficult because i *love* the reaver chase scene, i love the tension, the panic, the music, jayne running around making sure everyone is strapped in, i get excited but i dread the very second they land because i know that despite this maybe being the hundredth vieiwing, in a coupla seconds there will be tears and that for the rest of the film i sit with my heart in my mouth.

the last speech with river and mal is beatiful and i cant say more than that.

"Dear diary: Today I was pompous and my sister was crazy. Today we were kidnapped by hill folk, never to be seen again. It was the best day ever."

It takes a tough guy to admit to crying, don't get me wrong you don't have to be tough to actually cry, (in a moment or rare toughness I say the following)I do it often enough, though not like a little girl (god I hate how they cry, note to self, must keep all little girls happy until they no longer cry like little girls) but cry none the less.

As for how anyone could not cry when Simon is there dying (good thing he never finished dying) and talking to River, I don't know.

And in the final scene, with Serenity back in the air, with River and Mal conecting, with us all still flying, with the ship falling appart, it's too perfect to not have some kind of emotional reaction.
