Now I am learning about scary.

Congratulations, hippydog! May you spend many happy days together watching "Firefly" and "Serenity." I realize it might be a while before she's ready for that, but I guess you can sing "The Hero of Canton" and the "Firefly" theme to her for now, just to get her in the right frame of mind.
