Ever since finishing the Firefly Series discs for the third time, I was looking for something else to give me that fix. I had read on more than one thread here that the new BattleStar Galactica series on SciFi should appeal to Firefly fans. I took the chance and bought the mini-series DVD. I watched it in one sitting. Then I went out and bought Season 1. I am currently half-way through that as well. To any Browncoat out there who is thinking about giving BSG a go, give the Viper Wings a try. You may just find that they suit you very well.

Although that unmatched humor in Firefly (I still cannot think of a show that does it as well) is not in BSG, the deep character story definitely is. Think of it as a whole season of "Out of Gas," which in my opinion is the most rich episode of the entire series.

And one other thing...Gorram in Firefly = Frack in BSG!!

Well, ruttin' isn't really fake, it's a real word that means pretty much the same thing as.. umm.. that other word, just refers to animals.

Haven't seen the new BSG but I absolutely detested the original. I'm guessing the new one isn't as lame as the Glen Larson version? Hated the Cylons, etc. It's on cable which I don't have... so will have to see if I can dowload an ep off the net.

The new BSG is very good. Almost on par with how good Firefly was but not quite. Things really pick up and get really good in Season 2 which just finished up. Some damn huge twist and turns in that season. I can't wait see what Season 3 has in store but there is talk of a 8 to 9 month hiatus for it though. I hope this isn't true and doesn't prelude a cancellation.

Right now the shows I would recommend that currently on TV are....

Lost, Deadwood, Ghosthunters, et Battlestar Galactica.

Pretty much if you like the X-Files and really great character development then you'll love Lost. Deadwood is very adult and I personally like westerns. This show also has a large ensemble cast and all the characters are going at each other for control of something in the town. And yes, Ghosthunters is essentially a reality show but the only thing is that this reality show is plagued by idiots and is a really smart and intriguing show. It pretty much follows TAPS, a group that goes out to investigate hauntings. The only difference is that they go out to disprove the hauntings unlike many other groups out there that do the opposite.

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.
