Howdy, I'm a very new fan of Firefly... I recently saw the movie and finished the series. I loved it. Anyway, I was just checking to see if anyone has written a business case and proposal justifying a series revival beyond simply trying to appeal to Fox executives. I write these types of proposals as an occupation, and I started putting my ideas together from a business and marketing perspective on a blog at http://revivingfirefly.blogspot.com, but I thought that if someone has already done the research, we can regurgitate that as a baseline.

I thought I'd also try to come up with some other scenarios for bringing either Wash or Shepherd back depending on what's realistic. Thanks!

Okay so my stratagie for more Firefly is this, tell everyone! get a loaner box set or make copies (whatever your comfortable with) get out there and recruite you backside off! But your way makes more sense now that I've actually read your entire post.

Sweet, I'm glad that so many people enjoyed it. I feel like Fox has a knack for cancelling good shows. I'm sure there's plenty of business reasons for it, but sometimes you just have to bear down and take season of lower ratings to enjoy the larger successes later. Anyway, I'm excited that the fan base grows.

Howdy yourself, always shiny to see a new face out here in the black :) And it looks like this one's done got some learnin', too ;p

Always nice to see someone going at this in a well-thought and logical manner that would appeal to the powers-that-be. (My own methods of chanting words of power over a photo of Serenity have been woefully lacking in the results department. And madly dancing around my shrine to Kaylee... well that's just fun :)

Anyways, welcome.

Thank you very much. I figured that the following for this show would be a resounding emptiness since I finally discovered it about 4 years too late.

And, a shrine to Kaylee... where's the link? She's cute!

Interesting that you posted this. I teach argumentation and persuasion and work with writing argument for various situations all the time. I was thinking about doing this very thing. Yours looks great. Lotsa detail. That's great.

To me the sticking point is that the series would be starting with a much larger initial audience than the original series, a significant group of guaranteed viewers. That would also seem important to advertisers.

Who do we contact about this kind of thing. Does anyone out there know how much an episode of Firefly cost? I would imagine they're pretty pricey. I know some people have mentioned that they work in the TV industry. How much does it cost to run a series? I would imagine the fact that the sets and look of the show is already defined would save a network some money.

Welcome, peterwaitzman!

There are lots of us out here who long for a re-lighting of the 'Fly, but the constituency still needs to be pumped to tsunami proportions. Share your enthusiasm with others and, once they're hooked, suggest they do the same.

Nobody is going to invest the necessary millions unless he/they can be persuaded that there will be an appreciable number of our wet little eyeballs pointed at the commercials which will air during the show.
