DING

I am a new fan, living in Spain and hooked on the 'verse. This is the first time in life I have ever visited a fan site, but I just had to. Just to know if someone can answer me the following.

Stargate runs for 200 episodes, Farscape put in a pretty good showing. So how come something so superior in all counts gets cancelled in 14 episodes.

I'm left hanging on a thread...so how come someone of Joss Whedon's standing simply go to another network, or move production to Australia etc? I need to know, because I need to see more.

Addicted!

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the site Ding! Glad to have you aboard!

Joss actually did shop the show around to other networks such as Sci Fi, USA, UPN & others, but no one was buying. Guess they didn't want to touch a show that Fox was canning due to "low ratings". Of course all of that was back when we were still young & the browncoat ranks weren't nearly as large as they are now.

Be sure to introduce everyone you know to the show & the movie. That is the best way to help right now. The more fans we bring on board the larger the demand. The more voices we have clamoring for more, the better our odds of getting it.

Keep flyin'!

SARGEANTREYNOLDS

Welcome aboard, I'm a new Browncoat, myself.

From what I've heard about the show, it seems that FOX premiered the episodes out of order, causing most fans to be incredibly confused. I think you can pretty much attribute the show's cancellation to FOX's stupidity.

"If anything happens to her, anything at all, I will get very choked up. Honestly, there could be tears."

DUG

It was indeed shopped around but there were no takers. Just about every network around was talked about, but all passed for various reasons. Prime reason: show had already iffy track record (whatever the reason) and advertising dollars were VERY low that year. Let's see what I can recall about other reasons:
-Sci Fi network was on its inconceivable "we're moving away from shows about space" phase.
-Enterprise filled the slot on UPN for a space show.
-Andromeda was also viewed as a competitor, so a lot of network suits felt the field was glutted.
-Joss didn't exactly make friends when he moved Buffy from WB to UPN.
-And the big one: networks are afraid of sci-fi. Always have been.

JOCKOCKEYOCK

People are afraid of things they dont understand.
Firefly was kicked from fox because it was different, it had brought the idea of what about the loosers point of veiw the man who fought and lost his war, as well as silence in space, mixing history with future, and was the best creation ever....
Joss served firefly out to the other networks on A BIG FREAKIN PLATTER but no one wanted a taste it was too prity to eat, too prity to tare apart, and too damn pritty for a second chance...
But them movie people were struck with the beauty stick right upside their pritty little heads and made Firefly into SERENITY the movie.
SciFi bought the rights to air firefly on thier chanel but keeps messin up their time sceduals so no working, learning, buisy browncoat could sit in awa of Firefly's Magnificance.
So I come to my concluson.... them tv people are afraid of things too pritty to understand.

The court of this obsession, is abstracted from possession which when the worlds of outside in fall.
