I watch the new Battlestar Galactica; I hear it.
I watch a movie (like Terminator 2, for example); I hear it.
People talk to me at work; I hear it.
I watch Serenity; I hear it (well, you know, obviously...).

The only rest I get is when I watch Dark Angel.
Frak! Now that I typed it out loud, I'm gonna hear it there too...

GET OUT OF MY BRAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let 'em blow your mind Chrisisall

When my wife has a song like that stuck in her head I always sing her the Gilligan's Island theme. That usually pushes it right out.

That's a good one Chrisisall. By the way, you seem to keep poppin up wehre I am. Nice to have you around.

Just keep singing it. Try the two different versions, one with "the movie star, and the rest" and one with "the professor and Mary Ann." That helps me.

I lurked for qutie a while. I was in grad school finishing a dissertation when this site started, so though I was interested, I just coulnd't bring myself to sit in front of a screen and type if I didn't have to. Finally joined because someone said something I disagreed with. Been on here almost every day since. Much love for the site.

Found you quite purposefully, looking for more BDH content. Can't get enough of those people....

Thanks for the greeting, and the drink.*big gulp, then wheezes* Smooth*in a strained voice*

Chris,

I remember ages ago in a college psychology course, we learned that due to some quirk of our brains' wiring, a good way to stop making an error (one you keep making over and over) is to practice the error. In other words, do the thing wrong on purpose. Apparently this gives you more control over the neural pathways involved, so you can deliberately avoid using them.

I thought this might apply to "stuck jingle syndrome" too -- that one way to get a tune unstuck might be to deliberately force yourself to sing it. Like, sing it to yourself REALLY LOUD. Or possibly even sing it out loud a few times.

I've tried this and it works for me, though I couldn't swear it has worked every time. If you have any luck with it, let me know!

Having been in your shoes, I am afraid the only solution is a total frontal lobotomy. That's right, you'll have to go the way of River. I suggest going outside and hunting down anyone wearing a pair of blue mittens to ask them for an Academy application. Best of luck in your quest for sanity.

Chrisisall,

Don't fall for it! They're just trying to get you to sing the song out loud in public and ...

On second thought, that might help recruit Browncoats.

Just remind them that it's NOT MANDATORY!

"The professor and Mary Ann, here on Fuity Oaty Bar!"

So who is he?
He's my husband.
Well who in the damn galaxy ain't!

The Indiana Jones Theme Song is a tried, tested, and true method for getting *anything* out of your head 'round these parts. It helps if you sing it out loud with a few people and do some adventerous action poses too. Soon, you'll be having so much fun, you won't remember what it is you couldn't get out of your head.
