I just realised something while watching Firefly for the gazillionth time. Everyone knows Jayne's favourite gun is called Vera, right? What's Jane Mansfield's real name? Vera Jayne Palmer. Maybe Joss is a secret fan of Jane Mansfield...

Lol, I never picked up on that. IIRC, I think it was in the commentary for the pilot episode that Joss and Nathan are discussing the odd-looking protrusions in the cockpit, and one of them (can't remember who) quips something about "Here onboard the Jane Mansfield..." ;p
