Several weeks ago I was talking to a friend of mine about a tv show that was on a long time ago that was about a bunch of kids in space. He had no idea what I was talking about and called me crazy. Somehow I stumbled across a website for it and learned that one of our very own Jewel was in it- as an engineer no less. I was highly amused by this and thought I would share it. If it's not allowed or something because it's only vaguely related to Firefly, I apologize and use the "I'm new!" excuse. I also use the "I'm new!" excuse if this has been posted 10485039 times. *hopes the pictures work*

DTUCK

I loved Space Cases when it aired on Nickelodeon, and Jewel's Catalina was my favorite character. It was a cute show, featuring a somewhat typical 'kids lost with minimal parental care', but being in deep space gave it added flavor. That, and each of the kids being from a different planet afforded them different strengthes and weaknesses. Catalina's, if memory serves, was a sonic scream. Heh. Good times, back when Nickelodeon aired quality shows.

Harlan Band leaps before he looks,
Commander Goddard does not go by the books.
Radu tries to get along,
Thelma functions mostly wrong,
Bova's cloudy, Rosie's sunny,
Davenport is not too funny.
Catalina's best friend Suzee isn't there.

Good times, man! I was talking about Space Cases with some friends not too long ago, and someone made the analogy of it being "Farscape for kids". Despite the fact that Space Cases came first, I think it's more or less pretty true.

Yeah, I was pretty hooked on that show back in the day. If memory serves, wasn't there an ex-Power Ranger on that show as well? (Which was another guilty pleasure of mine :)

I loved space cases, and I had a crush on Jewel back then too lol, I was so pissed when it got cancelled lol. I knew I recognized her from somewhere when I first saw firefly, then I looked it up and had my little trip down memory lane :)

It kind of frightens me that you can remember a theme song from ten years ago... I hope you use that power for good and not evil.

Walter Jones (who was one of the original power rangers, back before they got lost in a million different galaxies and dimensions and times and spinoff series') played Harlan Band in Space Cases, the somewhat hotheaded cadet from Earth. What I remember of him is that he didn't like Radu (the Jupiterian) and he had a crush on Catalina (our favorite girl).
