Understanding TV Seasons

Hello all,

I am baffled by the current state of TV 'seasons'. We used to have Fall and Spring, but then cable stations began airing non-standard seasons. This has tumbled into the networks airing half seasons and other bunk.

Is there anyone out there that can point me to a resource to know when new seasons start for different channels. Right now I am having withdraws from Scifi's Stargate and Galactica. I also wonder about the USA networks 4400 and Deazone. They state summer.
