The time of year has come and the North Carolina Renaissance Faire is
back!

http://www.ncrenfaire.com

Serenity has informed me that the Bedlam Bards plan to be there!

http://www.bedlambards.com

Okay after perusing the Renaissance Faire schedule, I think that the
following will be the "Official" Browncoat hook up times:

9:45 for the Gate Show at New Gate (Gate 8)

12:00PM Meet at the Waterfall and then go to lunch (It is beside Dorton Arena)

2:45 PM Jousting Tournament (The Grande Tournament Arena, Behind the Barn)

After the fair we are planning to go eat at Carrabba's on Capital Blvd. if anyone wants to join us. Just come to dinner if you want. Just let me know by lunch if you are coming so that we can get a big enough table.

Any questions please e-mail me at ash@ash1.com.

The Faire is taking place at:

NC State Fairgrounds
Raleigh, NC
Enter at Gate 8
10AM - 6:30PM
http://ash1.com/fairgroundsmap.pdf

Carrabba's
4821 Capital Boulevard
Raleigh, NC 27616
7:00PM

Plan to eat, drink, and be merry!

Wow it looks like a good amount of us will be able to come. A veritable "shine" of Browncoats, if 10 to 12 people could be called a shine, will be there. Hopefully more will be able to join!

So I saw this headline and thought, "Hey, I'm in Raleigh this week. But darn it, I'll be at the renfaire on the eighth!" And then I saw that you already know we're here.

So everyone will know, the Bedlam Bards will be performing in front of the chapel at 11 am, 2 pm, and 4 pm on Saturday. Since we were a late addition to the lineup, our show times are not listed on the printed schedule. If y'all would like to gather in front of the chapel for any of our shows, we'll oblige by performing any Browncoat songs that can pass at faire. We did several last weekend, including "The Hero of Canton." When we started in on it, nearly a dozen flans appeared out of nowhere to listen.

Also, there's a clothing vendor inside the main building who is working on a brown coat design that will retail for only $100. Having seen her other work, I have to say that I know it will top-quality.

So bring your copies of On the Drift to get them autographed, and we'll see you at the faire!

Cedric!
Yay, I'll bring a non period Sharpie and your CD.
$100?? Will they be ready then, 'cause I'll definately do that.
I think River's jig can easily pass, I'd love to hear On the Drift and Leaf on the Wind.
11, 2, and 4. I'll catch as many as I can. Oh! join us for dinner? b-day drinks?

It's nice to see a browncoat gathering so close to home. I'm not sure if I'm free Saturday yet, but if I am, I'd love to meet you guys for dinner. I'll keep you posted.

I don't think she'll have any of her brown coats ready--she's swamped making ren stock. But she may have her prototype brown coat at the booth, and I'm sure she'll be ready to take orders. I'm also going to grab her contact info this weekend so I can post it here.

River's Jig, Saffron's Wedding Dance, Sail the Sky and Hero of Canton are the ones we're most likely to do in a renaissance setting. We probably won't do On the Drift or Leaf on the Wind at the faire, but if someone can give us a ride to dinner, we'll be happy to sing a song in the parking lot. Heck, for free dinner, we'll sing several.

ALSO IMPORTANT: The faire owner says she may have some times for us on the White Flower Stage (the main stage behind the big round building). As soon as I know the show times, I'll post them here.

Lookin' forward to seeing y'all,

Cedric

Yay for the scallop song!

I very nearly spewed my tea for the laughing. Instead, I managed to just choke for a few seconds. I think I'll be okay.

I think we should plan for a fun summer outing, something to tide us over until September. Anyone got any ideas?

And it was SPLENDID meeting new Browncoats!!

I'm up for a summer meeting. Any thoughts where? Is Charlotte a relatively central location for everyone?

Glad you survived from choking on tea. You know, suffocation isn't pretty. When the body doesn't get enough oxygen... (I'm trying to quote Simon in Out of Gas -- it's just not coming to me...)

The scallop song -- part 2

Their beady eyes scan back and forth
But not suspiciously
They just can't seem to find the shrimp
In Ashs' linguini...

*raises right hand.*

I, Serenity, do hereby solemnly vow and declare my intent to never again drink beverages whilst reading Malachite's posts, on account of I like being able to breathe.

*lowers hand.*

(This time it was coffee I nearly choked on. The scallop song makes me giggle.)

As to meeting up-all you Charlottey people: anything special going on in Charlotte in the summer months?

Ha, ha. You guys are so funny. Isn't Jadehand from Charlotte? Maybe he's got an idea. Too bad there isn't a "Medieval Times" restaurant around there...

I'm starting to consider going to DragonCon. What would push me over the edge would be if the Cap'n were going to be there...

The Scallop Song -- Part Three: Smells Like Leftovers

My scallops not brought home that day
May grace some Carabbas lunch
But the shifty buggers secretly may
Wind up in purple punch...

*puts her drink down*

Whew! That was close!

Medieval Times is fun. I went to one once, years ago.

Wait-just had a thought! Is Carowinds or whatever that place is called, is that near Charlotte?

I like rollercoasters.

mmmmm...purple punch!
