Ni-hao, Browncoats!

Guess what I uncovered while reading the latest issue of Empire magazine? Seems the esteemed film mag and her readers compiled a list of the 201 (cuz the issue is #201) Greatest Movies of All Time...and guess which film got No. 88 on their countdown?

SERENITY!!!

That's right! Top 100, ladies and gents! Now...that's not all. Seems Joss is included several times, both as a celebrity commentator for a handful of list entries highlighted (The Matrix, Toy Story 2 and Aliensare three that come to mind) and mentioned for the entry for "Speed" (which "Serenity" beat by 28 places) since he wrote the majority of the dialogue but got screwed out of a credit because of arbitration (presuming enough material remained that Graham Yost got full credit).

So...lovely news, ain't it?

What... only 88th place???

.. j/k! That's a pretty darn impressive place on an all-time best-of list for a (relatively) low-budget s-f film that wasn't a mega-hit.

Was this list compiled by fan voting, reader poll, or critic selections? Or some combination thereof?

I don't disagree on any particular point.

I was pretty pleased about that, since I took part in that as a member of Empireonline.

I've found that right from the start, the magazine was behind the BDM and every time they interview Joss then it usually gets around to Serenity somehow - even if it's only to ask if there's any word on a sequel yet.

I don't care what you believe in, just believe in it.
