Today seems to be Newbie day!

Greetings, all.
New poster, long-time lurker. I was introduced to the 'Verse through my wife, who decided I might like the movie 'Serenity'. I have always loved Sci-Fi movies, and this one looked kinda cool, so I decided to humor her...I think she has regreted it ever since. Within a few days of seeing the BDM, she borrowed the Firefly series from a friend...I think it took about three days to watch the whole thing (if it hadn't been for work, sleep, having to eat, it would have taken less time...). I became a Browncoat while walking out of the theater after seeing 'Serenity', but I did not know it for certain until after watching Firefly. Now I know, and I am proud to be amongst such company as I see here. Thank you, moderators, for building us this shiny home where we may come play.

TEETHGRINDER

Well oh well... Welcome NEWBIES!!! You guys are always welcome here. We all have our fascinating tales of how we ended up being a browncoat and they never cease to amaze me. About 6 months ago... I had no idea what FIREFLY/SERENITY was all about. That abrubtly changed when I got an early christmas present (SERENITY)from a dear friend and the rest they say is history. For all it's worth ... I might even be a bigger fan than HER now (smile!). A few months later... I managed to convert 3 more browncoats(YEHEY!!). 2 from work and 1 that I regularly see on my way to work. I'm proud and ecstatic to have the chance to share this wonderful verse to as many people as I can. I even have it on FRIENDSTER, TAGWORLD , and MYSPACE (smile!). My youngest sister just recently moved here from the Philippines and we (me and my other sister) took her to the movies 2 days ago to watch SLITHER (AWESOME!!!!!!!) and now she wants too see more of NATE so we're about to do a FIREFLY/SERENITY marathon (Thank God I'm still on my week end) and it's needless to say that very soon.... She will be a browncoat (smile). I can't wait to see her reaction to all the gut busting , heart pounding , tearjerker , and jaw dropping scenes from both FIREFLY and SERENITY. I know how it feels the first time you realize how wonderfully perfect "this side of the verse" is. I'm a greenhorn compared to the legendary browncoats that were here from day one BUT I share with them and all of you the PASSION and LOVe for this "SIDE of the WORLD" and with this.... I WELCOME you and the countless but just as amazing new browncoats to our ranks.
FOLLOWMAL will have all your standard issue browncats ready as she always does. One more thing.... GO WATCH SLITHER!!!!!!!!!

I too want to say hello the the newbie recruits. Myself having my own browncoat maybe a month.

Just bought the the dvd series last week after seeing it first from netflicks. Now I'm watching the series again s-l-o-w-l-y and am getting a better understanding on some of the things that get posted here.

Beautifly written and acted I am enjoying uncovering the layered/depth of the show. there is just so much I missed the first time round. So much dialog and body language.

Anyway welcome, see you in the galley.

Keep spreading the signal, every little bit helps, if you have an extra set laying around loan it out or donate it to the local library (libraries are an effective recruitment tool)

Nuclearday, I can say without shame that that line brought tears to my eye when I saw the movie. Every time I hear it now, it does the same, as I now fully "understand" what it means.

Thank you all for the welcome...I have found my home!
As far as owning my own browncoat...well, it helps that in my previous life I was trained as a university/theatrical costumer. I will be going to DragonCon, and will be going as Mal. I have nothing yet put together, but I have pictures, links, and references to work with. I am thinking of buying one of the cloth browncoats I have seen in one of these threads and using it to pattern my leather one...we shall see. Of course, the first thing I will need is Mal's pistol...but I am working on getting one as we speak.
Guess I should have asked this on my first posting, but is there a listing on this site as to number of Browncoats per region? I am in Alabama, and I know there are a few of us here, but I haven't seen any.
