Another vote for the scene in Safe, where they're about to be burnt at the stake.

Particularly when River repeats the line "Post holer. For digging posts."

The facial expressions of the two siblings at that moment is just too much.

It's not a line, but the end of The Message gets to me. Especially since they all knew by then that the show was gone.

But it especially got me when Simon takes Kaley's hand.

this is also mine, as of now;

Simon: You know what that means, right?
River: Time to go to sleep again...
Simon: No mei-mei... It's time to wake up.

OK, leaving now to watch Firefly again.

Okay, just finished watching the pilot again so right at this moment my favorite 'choke up' lines are:

Mal: We're still flying.
Simon: That isn't much.
Mal: It's enough.

Kinda sums it all up.

Tomorrow (or this weekend)I'll watch a different episode or the BDM and change my mind!

Whilst I am more of a lurker than a writer on this board, this whole thread breaks me to be honest.

So many memory's and I have to keep remembering that this is a show.

I have just watched all the episodes again last weekend, what better way to chill out is always my excuse. I think that it is wearing a little thin now.

Thank you all for the memories

River talking about her memories in da big gorram movie.

"It's not mine"

Mal in out of gas when he finally gets the catalyzer in place, and taps it a couple times chokes me up too.

There are many other moments, I guess that is part of the appeal of "Firefly", not only does it make you feel, it makes you care about something.

Been lurking for a while. Love this thread.

For me, everytime River says something that the others ignore or brush aside...
TrainJob (although no one hears) 2 by 2, hands of Blue.

In Ariel when she doesn't want to go through the door

In Out of Gas when she says fire.

I feel so bad for her it makes my stomach hurt.

Makes me want to kick them all ans say LISTEN TO HER.

And in the BDM when Book says "I don;t care what you believe, just believe whatever she" You know he is telling Malcolm to trust in River.

"Show me off like a dog, Old men covered in blood, never touched them but they're drowning in it|

First of all, I’ve gotta agree with Kanger33:
Quote:

Simon in Safe: "Light it."
Oh. My. God. Can love be any more pure and dedicated than that?

My personal gut-wrenchers:
(Some of these have been said before but they're so good they bear repeating!)

"You gave up everything you had to find me... you found me broken. It’s hard for you. You gave up everything you had..."
"Mei-mei, everything I have is right here."

"Merciful God, make me a stone."

"Baby! Come on! We gotta go!"

ANY time I hear "I am a leaf on the wind..."
(When Wash snaps at Mal, "It’s okay, I’m a leaf on the wind!" I want to laugh and cry!)

Finally, the moment in which I knew I was hooked on Firefly was when I first watched OoG and saw Mal collapse onto the deck. Seeing him in so much pain and seeing Serenity so empty and lonely made me realize how much I had come to care about the characters.

I know, I love that story, especially because it came true!! Awwww.

Also, I know this has been posted and I agree with all the previous posts in the BDM.
Zoe screams at Wash to come on baby, we gotta go, just gets to me and basically every thing said after that until the end of the movie.
Especially when Kaylee asks where Wash is, and after Simon gets shot and talks to River. He still wanting to help Kaylee even though he is seriously injured too.

The individual lines have been mentioned already but reading this thread I'm particularly struck by the way the Simon/River moments develop over the course of the series and movie.

"Everything I have is right here."

"No, mei mei. Time to wake up."

"You are my beautiful sister."

"Bullet in the brainpan, squish!"

"I hate to leave..."
"You won't. You take care of me, Simon. You always take care of me. My turn."

Every single one of these gets me every time. And Summer is really an extraordinary actress - who else could almost make you cry with the word "squish"?

All the Mal Inara stuff that got cut from the BDM.
'Why did you leave..." and so forth.

Also, when Mal heads into Mr. Universe's place, after telling the crew to hold. On his way in he and Inara share a long look. Theres so much spoken there, it made me teary. Those two. I heart angst, what can I say.

Oh so many good ones have been said and yea I'm gonna have to repeat a few of them but my faves are as follows...

Firefly:

From out of Gas... Simon's little "It was my birthday.." always gets me, as does Mal's look when he spots Serenity at the end.

Almost all of River and Simon's interactions during Safe, especailly the "Light it." at the end.

Serenity:

Zoe's pleas at Wash after he was killed.. from that point on I'm just blubbering...

Boy that is a good one. It's a real credit to Sean too, that it doesn't come off pouty. It has more of a disappointed tone, disappointed that the moment for all of them was ruined, as opposed to disappointed that his special moment was over.

Great line by a great guy.

my favourite emotional line from the verse is kind of in rivers head in the episode Objects in Space as Mal says

'None of it means a damn thing'

it gets me very single time when his voice chokes on that line, its so powerful

also every line thats already been mentioned here, as well as the music, god the music can make me cry instantly

Thanks everyone, now I'm sitting at my desk crying like an idiot!! (hopefully no one will come in any time soon.)

My biggest sob moment from the series is in Heart of Gold when Wash and Zoe are talking about having a baby. Zoe says "I aint so afraid of loosing something that I ain't gonna try to have it" (or something close to that). It makes me think of the child she will never have and that she must feel the same way about having Wash in her life.

I also wail like a baby at the end of Out of Gas when they pan to Serenity. Gets me every time.

I wail for the last half hour of the movie (every darn time) but definitely the whole sequence where they are repairing the ship kills me and the very end when Mal and River are talking.

I find the more I watch Firefly and the BDM, the more sentimental I get about it. I'm sure you all understand.

the entire last half an hour of the film like you said is just so emotional, i havent watched it yet without tears, the music that starts at the funeral scene and carries right on til mal and river are talking is just so beautiful

I love all of the tear jerkers mentioned. What a series.

Actually, if you consider angst, I like the Inara bits in "Our Mrs. Reynolds", when she's so bent out of shape about Mal being "married". She snaps at him, more severely than normal. It's one of the few times she loses her cool, especially when Mal asks if she can picture him with a bunch of kids.

Later, as was already mentioned, when Inara tries to hide the fact that she kissed Mal when he was unconcious, that was priceless.

Also, at the end of that episode, when Joss teases us with Mal approaching Inara, and telling her not to kid around. She's completely defenseless at that point, and you just *know* some truth is about to be spoken about their feelings for each other. Then Mal is a typical guy, and says "I knew you kissed her!". Idiot! I loved it!

Not sure whether it was mentioned before in this particular thread, but there's one in HoG that got me -- more the first time I saw it than on subsequent viewings, because it was so totally unexpected.

When Inara scolds Mal about not being prudish, telling him she's glad he slept with Nandi, I totally bought it, just as Mal did. So when we see her in the next scene crying her pretty little eyes out... wham. Lost it.

There's two lines/scenes that get me from the BDM hasn't been mentioned yet and I have no idea why. Maybe it's the expression on River's face in the first one.

Then there's Kaylee's little throwaway line when her and Jayne are in the cargo bay.
