Hi,

I've been curious about the Australian DVD 2-disc edition, which I'd love to be able to get if my DVD player managed to run Region 4 DVDs (it doesn't). I realized that this edition is supposed to have Extended Scenes and I was wondering what this was all about. Can someone who has this DVD explain a bit what these Extended Scenes are all about? What do they contain? I'd appreciate it very much. "I'm just so curious", as Wash would say.

I don't know if this has been discussed before, and if so, I apologize for the new thread.

Thanks,

Xeyra

It's some extra lines in the scenes with Fanty and Minto, with the Operative in the training house, and one with Mal in Inara in the Shuttle (the one where they never finished the CGI) and one more I can't remember. But It's nothing really big, the real treat is the interview with Joss in Sydney. Have you tried running it on your computer?

Should be mentioned that DVD players that can easily be made to play R4 discs can be bought for under $100 at Walmart.

I got the R4 disk but I didn't need to do anything to my R2 dvd player. It works fine. My Australian friend said that it had something to do with the whole laidback Australian attitude - ie, why bother with all that region locking stuff?

I'd recommend getting the R4 version for the extras plus you get a nifty little tin box to keep it in.

I don't care what you believe in, just believe in it.

I don't have that edition. My DVD players (both computer and living room) are R2 only and I'm not sure if I can play the extra DVD (I've heard it said it's a R4 disc even if it was released as a R2&R4 edition in some parts of Europe). Some players can play multiple regions but I'm not sure mine manages that (I haven't tried it).

But thank you for saying which kinds of scenes there were. I was just curious about the whole Extended Scene angle. I would love to see the Sydney interview but I guess I'll content myself with the extra documentary we had in our European DVD release, which is great.

Hm. I live in Austria which is region 2. For some reason, Universal decided to release the movie both on single dvd and on double dvd, i.e. we get the infamous Australian bonus disc over here - without German subtitles, but who needs those anyway However, I can't tell you what region code the bonus disc is; I own a dvd-player that doesn't care for region codes Also, I'm still at work so I can't even look it up for you. If I haven't forgotten by the time I get home, I'll look it up and post the result

Oh, and it was definitely worth buying it - there's a wonderful Q&A-session with Joss Whedon on disc 2.

Just ordered this disk and I am waiting for it to arrive. Will comment on the extra contents when it arrives.

Keep annoying the postie, but it is comming a long way. For the price I paid tho it just wasn't worth buying any other edition

Just had a mail saying it has been shipped, now I really can't wait. It's got a long way to come mind.
Why have they taken the sky from ME
