If we want to have an influence on Fox to bring it back to television. There is one solution, everyone buys shares in Fox, and then at their AGM the subject is brought forward. Thus, allowing the boards to think again about bringing the show back to television, film, etc.

Maybe Fox will allow an animated series or radio shows to be done?

But, the shares is where the power is to influence Fox.

How much are fox worth anyway? Surely to buy enough shares to have any influence would cost more than just buying Firefly off them.

I think it is the numbers of firefly fans that buy them and link them with a petition would putpressure on Fox to ask questions.

I am not trying to raise the shares of Fox, or anything like that.

But, how else do you make the money men think? A share gives you rights to vote, etc., etc., etc.

And if you can vote, you make things sing!

If you have enough firefly fans who bought shares and then they said they were going to vote on one specific topic, to get their point through what would happen?

I think the money men would have to think very, very hard.

Firefly fans unless you a millionaire, don't have the money to buy the rights to the series, etc.

But they can buy just one share, maybe, they can make a difference.

Who knows there might be a fan out there who has a lot of shares in Fox, who can use their voting rights to make a query at the AGM?

Well, the Entertainment Division of the parent company, "News Corporation", Stock symbol NWS-A/NWS.A, is currently trading at $17.00 per, with a P&E of 30.91. They've posted a $1.55 gain on the year. They had a bit of a dip in November of 2005, but the current analysts reccomendation is 6 to 7 for a strong buy and/or hold.

Guess I'll have to call my broker on Monday.

Just and FYI, though. Voting/Proxy voting is only for the election/re-election of board members and for yearly operational reccomendations (such as hiring an new outside accounting firm or some such)...You won't get to vote on the show lineup simply by owning stock.

But, can we vote for someone who says they would like to bring back firefly series, and allow it to develop?

I am sure some of these board members are shrewd in trying to get a few extra votes from fans to get a seat on the boards. I know they could say one thing before the vote, and another after, but it is a possiblity?

Also, is there a chance at the AGM for people with voting/proxy rights to ask questions, etc?

Here's the thing. And, please, don't take this as me being condescending, because I'm not. I'm just trying to explain how this works.

When you own stock in a company you get an annual report, which details financial gains, losses, plans, expansions, etc. Pretty much a "state of the union" address for the company.

When a shift in the BOD occurs, or a reccomendation is handed down saying, (just for instance) "XYZ company's contract with ABC Accounting firm is up and we should either renew, or hire QRS Independent Accounting for auditing purposes", as a stockholder you get to vote.

What happens is you recieve a notice in the mail (or by email if you sign up for online proxy voting)...The notice basically says here are the candidates, or here is the proposal. Here are the directors reccomendations. You then either check the box saying "vote my shares per the directors reccomendations", or you check mark individually the yays, nay's, or votes for individuals. The third option is marking the "I will be attending the annual stockholders meeting"...

There aren't any campaigns as you see in political races, so no one will be out on the stump saying "if you elect me to the board I will fight to bring back Firefly."

Now, you have to have the excess cash on hand to take your happy rear end to said stockholders meeting and sit through the financial yakkity-yak, then vote. Yes, you can ask questions, but I really suspect that you wouldn't get far asking something like "if I vote for you will you reccomend bringing back Firefly"... That's not what they are there to talk about. They are there to talk about numbers.

Will they trot out a dog and pony show for the stockholders, showing off new lineups? Probably, but it would be just that, a dog and pony show. The reality is, stock is not going to buy you a say in what is shown, unless you have a majority--or at the very least a tremendously significant--holding. And, as much as I hate to say it, even if all of us here bought 100 shares ($1700 + applicable brokerage fees at the current share price) rounding up the total number of Browncoats to 20,000 that would only amount to around 2 million shares. That may sound like a lot, but in the grand scheme of things, it really isn't given the size of the company, and even that particular division.

Now, believe me, I am no expert on this. I am merely speaking as someone who owns more than just a little bit of publicly traded stock, and has made money at it. Even so, there may be a Browncoat here who is a broker/analyst/whatever who can dispute everything I have said; and, if there is such an expert here I will certainly bow to his/her knowledge. But, based on my own experience I think I'm probably correct.

Didn't mean to throw water on your parade.
