I know this is most likely a futile exercise, but it's still FUN!!!

I want to see what all the shiny new recruits will do with this, so...

BUMP!

Antireaver - are you still keeping score?

$150, in a heartbeat.

If I had a steady job, wasn't in University, etc. etc., I'd probably give more.

What exactly are we using this cash for?

Id be willing to give £100 / $175 per episode.

Supply and Demand, we want Firefly, were willing to pay for Firefly, give us what we want!

If I had some time to save up (like a few months) I'd personally give $100 every season also.

mal4prez:

Your mind and mine are on the same wavelength, I swear! (And you have my sympathies.)

I was planning on coming home today and starting a new thread, the upshot of which was 'let's have a Firefly telethon'.

You know: Get SciFi to run it from one of Universal's soundstages, maybe even trot BDM-BT ('Big Damn Mid-Bulk Transport') Serenity out of mothballs and do it from the cargo hold; dancing Reavers for entertainment or turning numbers on 'The Big Damn Tally Board'. The cast and creators could personally answer phones and take pledges.

Just to make it fun, 'fine' Joss $50 every time he uses the word 'feet' -- or a derivation thereof -- in conversation.

Nathan could emcee. ...except all the fems would want to talk to him on the phone, so we might have to think about that a little more; maybe rotate the emcee job every segment?

SciFi could do it the next time they have a Firefly marathon. Do little cut-ins to the telethon on commercial breaks, 2 or 3 times an hour (where they would normally run a promo or PSA, so it wouldn't cost 'em ad revenues).

Even if they just mocked it up (i.e., no real money changing hands, 'cuz I'm fairly certain the FCC would disapprove), it'd be a unique promotional idea. But make the phones live, ya dig?

Oh, and -- just in case anyone from SciFi/Universal/Vivendi/NBC are reading this and thinking it sounds attractive -- be sure and get lots of phone lines. To paraphrase Stilgar from D. Lynch's "Dune", you're about to get Flan-sign, "the likes of which even God has never seen"...

Better get some interpreters too. We're multinational, we've got cell phones, and Firefly news spreads at the speed of light. (NB: Well, '~C' to the pole, depending on infrastructure quality, server load and routing).

It'd be cool if they could do it for real, because we'd have enough to finance at least another movie by the end of the day. But at least TPB would be able to judge the demand for a new series/movie. Hell, I'd stay home from work on the day just for a chance to talk to Morena, and the rest of the day off for my inevitable rush to the ER...

Jerry Lewis-ly,

zoid

P.S.
Yo, SciFi! As an aside, how about y'all start the next Firefly marathon so that it ends with "Objects in Space", fer a change?

I'd pay $1000 a season(a "season" being 22 episodes), for a max of 5 seasons, to see Firefly back on the air. I kid you not.

Unfortunately, my better half would probably divorce me if I ever forked out that much cash for a tv show, so a more reasonable amount, say $200 a season, would be my pledge.

This, of course, comes with the caveat of it being the same quality show it was in the first place(or at least close). Otherwise, all bets are off.

*Edit*
I like the idea of listing current Firefly-related purchases...here's mine(some are not licensed):

1. One Serenity Rental from Blockbuster
2. Two Firefly DVD purchases, 1 from Amazon, 1 from Best Buy
3. One copy of Serenity from Best Buy
4. One copy of the "Those Left Behind" comic book from Lone Star Comics
5. One soundtrack to "Serenity" via I-Tunes
6. One soundtrack to "Firefly" via Borders
7. One copy of "On the Drift" by the Bedlam Bards
8. One Blue-Sun t-shirt via Cafe-Press
9. One Blue-Sun coffee mug via Cafe-Press
10. One "Serenity" t-shirt from Hot Topic
11. One "Browncoat" t-shirt from Hot Topic
12. Three nicely detailed plastic dinosaurs from Target
13. One copy of "Finding Serenity" via Amazon
14. One copy of "Serenity: The Official Visual Companion" via Amazon

I took a quick look at the old posts and I assume that you mean how much we could seriously afford to put in. Right now I could take off my paycheck about 100$ per month. If things get serious enough I could put on a few extra hours and double the post.
This thing gets anywhere... count me in.

Brilliant, Zoid!

Get that telethon going, and I'll help. I promise. . . I'll fly to where ever you're having it, and be your personal telethon slave to get the ball rolling. (keep in mind I'll have a time restraint of a couple of days as i have small children whom I can't be away from for long.)

*sigh* okay . . I know you have a life other than this, so I guess i won't hold you to such a somsuming project. BUUUUUT . . .if you happen to feel like putting an idea into motion . . .

As for donation, I'd give a few hundered a season, . . . but my time (which is very valueable) would be yours if you decide to make your musing a reality.

$500 down, and $100 per season after that. I don't have a lot of cash, right now $500 would be about everything I have. I'd still pay it.

Have you ever:
Used your teeth as wire strippers?
Given yourself stitches?
Made improvised munitions with no base supplies?
Pissed in a canteen?
Gone a month without bathing?

If so, you MIGHT just be a !HOOAH MOTHERF*CKER!

Easilly $100 a season.

Not to mention what I'm sure I'd spend on any future merchandising. I've definitely spent more than $100 on already-created merchandise, and that's only since September when I became a full-fledged Browncoat.

Keep on flyin'

$100 seems good to me (per season). I've already spent the following:

2 Serenity Tickets
1 Serenity DVD Rental
Serenity DVD purchase
Firefly DVD rental
Firefly DVD purchase
Serenity Official Visual Companion
Serenity Role Playing Game
Serenity Soundtrack
Firefly Soundtrack
FInding Serenity (Not to Joss & Co., but still...)

So that's well over a hundred all ready, so what's a little more. :)

Anyone actually have a count on how much money has been posted on this thread? I posted a tally a long time back but there have been a lot of pledges since then.

I could come up with $1,000, but it'd be a one-time deal! After I graduate, I could possible put in a little more, but it'd be a stretch! I'd just look at it as a great investment!
