In the past, I have been at the con to register by around noon Friday. Sometimes a few of the second tier guests have Q&As and photo ops that day, but major things typically don't get underway until the Opening Ceremony which is usually around 5-5:30. Since you most of you guys are going for the two Firefly headliners, this shouldn't pose a problem.

And at last year's cocktail party people sat wherever they wanted. Everyone pretty much mingles, so seats aren't really a problem. :)

Noon, huh?

Argh. That's an early start. I'll need to bribe mom and sis.

Any idea if they're really gonna do assigned seating for the cocktail party?

Well I'm still thinking about Thursday 'cause of the drive - but it's alot of cashy-money for some convenience. Will need to ponder that some more...

Shindig is Saturday right?

Re cocktail party - I heard that it was to be run wedding reception style. We (the paying guests) stay at our table(s) and the BDHs pay a visit to each table. Least, s'what i hear...Long as we're all togther it'll be shiny!! Are you going to the cocktail party LLB?

Well, that's how everything starts out. Last year, a few tables pretty much hogged a certain guests which made it necessary for the attendees to approach the guests.

JBW, I will be at the cocktail party, along with my mother. Last year, we fit about 6-8 people per table. We'll see how things go this year. Fun times.

If Friday's PJ Party Shindig, what should we make Saturday?

Taking this from the prospero board...

JBW has a good idea. We'll keep the shindig on Friday night, as a good way of all of us getting together and meeting up. But word is more than likely to spread, so leaving the venue open for the second night is a good idea. We can wing it from there and decide Friday night once we're AT the hotel.

Every day I get more and more excited about this convention!

I definitely plan to shindig (of COURSE it's a verb) both nights! I have my PJs all picked out for Friday, and I can't wait. What a brilliant idea!

I'm going to the cocktail party too, and I'm trying to get Kaele to go slinky-dress shopping with me ahead of time. Not sure how fancy the party is going to be, but I'd like to dress up a little bit at least.

not nice to mock yer momma. 'sides, i wanted to post something new, and there were no follow up posts, so i still had to scroll. :-P anyroad, some hints for the attendees - poconos are mountains, it will still be cold at nite, even if the temp is high during the day. bring sweaters and/or jackets. and when you first get there, ask for extra towels from housekeeping. they tend to run out come sunday, esp. if you have alot of people sharing/crashing.

Slinky dress shopping??? Yeaay - then i totally know what to bring to wear for the cocktail party. It even has its own matching jacket, though it's more of a scarf texture! Now, just have to find the pj's...
And even though it's in the pocono's, we will be inside for the events/shindigs! It's when we go outside we need a coat/sweater....

malnourished wants to shop for slinky dress so i'm assuming that's what we'll wear?? The one i'm thinking of is not floor length - to the knees on off bias cut. good for dancing, or just standing 'round. Has spagetti straps with the aforementioned matching scarf like jacket...Very colourful! And fun! and of course, flattering! I'll have to try on make sure still fits...lost some weight since I bought it last summer...

Maybe help her shop for dress and she help you shop for the pj's!
Later!! Studying for a promotion exam!

I will help you find PJs, kaele, if you'll help me find something with some slink. If the three of us dress up a bit then I won't worry about feeling out of place if a bunch of other people wear jeans.

Anyone receive confirmations on badge numbers/seats recently? Just wanna check to see how close we all are.

I just sent an email requesting my Premium Photo Op for Nathan Fillion. And since my mother, who also has a Premium membership, isn't too fond of getting her picture taken, I asked to use her's for myself with Adam Baldwin. Just waiting to hear back now.

Hey guys...2 months and counting!

No, but I DID get my hotel confirmation. It doesn't list my 2 bedroom reservation, but the girl said that was ok, the confirmation number was correct anyway. I guess some news is better than no news.

LESS THAN TWO MONTHS!

Gawd, I can't wait. I also may have recruited another Browncoat who may be coming with us. I think once she's done moving, I'll e-mail her the con info and ask if she wants to come with us. If I get the minivan by then, I'll JUST be able to fit her. :) If not, we may be taking two or three cars!

Maybe I'll get MalNourished to make up some sweet sign we can tape to the door to show everyone where we are:

"Browncoat Shindig Here:
The Finest of Beverages That Make You Go Blind."

Gosh, feel like I've been out in the black for too long. Dang, i hate it when the real world interferes with my fun!!

I got my confirmation badge number and seating via email...course, it's at home so can't say what number is or ...
HOLD ON A GORRAM MINUTE HERE!! I think i sent it to my address here at work...*switches over to inbox, searches through and*

AHA, found it!! here's my info:
Badge Number: 138 Seat Number: A68

From diagram my seat is WAAAAAAAAAAAY off to the side, which sucks, but I am told I can pull up a piece of carpet as long as I don;t get in anyones way.....I don't have the premium pass so I'm not in the rows nice and close and center to the stage...might have to lend my digital to one of you fine ladies to get some pic's taken!!!

YIPEEEEEEEEEEEEE - LESS than 2 months to go!!!!!!!

BTW - i am arriving thursday and have a double room in the hotel - if anyone lookin' to share expenses??

Have you checked the board over at MR's ezboard? It's that red box in the top right corner on the con's website.

They have an entire forum of people looking to share rooms. And it's far enough away time-wise that you can make a few phone calls just to be sure they're not too creepy. :)

There's always people combing the con looking for people to share a room with. The rooms aren't cheap and when you can split the bill, it helps alot. (gives you more money to spend on swag! LOL)

I've got a bunch of people's e-mail addys from here, so as we get closer, I'll share my cell number with you all so I can let you know when I arrive and what room I'm in so you can invade and Shindig. (and YES I used it as a verb)

My husband and I will be attending the convention via some VERY shiny circumstances and 2 dealer's passes. We'll be at the table for "Movie Treasures", a movie memorabilia company, and also wandering the convention, so we have some free time.

Are you guys planning a Shindig at the event? I'd love to come and meet some fellow Browncoats. My husband and I will be in costume as Jayne and an Ariel paramedic, so we should be easy to spot. If ya'll are running a shindig, can the organizer shoot me an email with the info? I'd be much obliged.

Shindig Friday night is set for 10pm at Kaele's bunk. Look for her or her mom, they'll be wearing name tags with Shindig on them...please approach and introduce yerself!!
I know that she, myself, malicious among others will be at the cocktail party Friday night...Just look for people wearing Firefly/Serenity gear...And I'll have a tee with my user name on it . Don't know if i'll wear that Firday night or Saturday for photoshoots.

AS for Saturday night, we're going to play it by ear...maybe shindig in the bar on site!! I do not have tickets for banquet so am free to start a shindig early with other like minded people!!
