EVERYWORLDSPINNIN

I've been here almost daily for the last couple of years, and I've really enjoyed meeting everyone out here. But other than knowing that we are all crazy about this show/movie, I don't really know too much else other than what you've decided to post yourselves. So I thought that I'd throw together a comprehensive poll to just get a snapshot of "the real you".

When I say comprehensive, I don't mean, "What's your favorite episode". That's been done about a million times here and elsewhere. I mean REALLY getting to know you. Some questions would be general, but others would be personal, even slightly uncomfortable. In any case, there WOULD NOT be any personally identifiable information collected about you, and this information would not be collected for any commercial or marketing purposes. This is also not done in conjunction with anyone such as Fox, Mutant Enemy, Universal, or ANYONE ELSE.

I have an intial list of questions that I'll list in a minute. But instead of making it all about what I think would be interesting, I thought I'd open it up to everyone to include what you would like to know about other Flans that is not related to the show. I'll take the most common questions, and add them to the list. Any juvenile or obscene/highly offensive questions won't make the cut, so don't even bother. I'd like to limit the questions to maybe 15 or 20 at the most, as to not make it cumbersome. I am requiring that you be at least 18 years old to take it.

While you are taking the survey, a token is used to determine if you have already taken it so as to avoid duplicates. It is also used to "mark" your place in the survey should you stop in the middle of it, and decide to pick it up again later. IT IS NOT POSSIBLE FOR THIS TOKEN TO IDENTIFY YOU, SINCE IT'S KEPT IN A SEPERATE DATABASE THAN THE ANSWERS. From the software package: A Note On Privacy
This survey is anonymous.
The record kept of your survey responses does not contain any identifying information about you unless a specific question in the survey has asked for this. If you have responded to a survey that used an identifying token to allow you to access the survey, you can rest assured that the identifying token is not kept with your responses. It is managed in a seperate database, and will only be updated to indicate that you have (or haven't) completed this survey. There is no way of matching identification tokens with survey responses in this survey.

OK, here are the first few questions:

1. What is your gender?
2. What is your age?
3. What type of job do you do?
4. On which continent do you live?
5. Describe your political disposition.
6. What is your religion?
7. What do you most like to do with your time?

OK, that's just the start. What else should go in? Let me know. I'm asking for submissions no later than end of day (midnight CST) Saturday April 15th, and the survey will run until April 22nd. I'll post the results then.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

That's really quite a list of questions. How would it work, exactly? Would it be like a separate site we could all go to? I mean, we wouldn't want fans flaming other fans for their personal beliefs (I know that's an off-chance, but I have to mention it anyway) but I do share your wish to know a bit more about my fellow Browncoats. I doubt there's anything we all have in common other than Firefly, but it would be interesting to see similarities.

Hmmmmm, how about "What was/is your major in college?" That's always interesting.

Sounds interesting.

For me, a good question is: Do you like art; if so, what kind and why?

At a relatively young age, this seems more important than what one does for income. Im 25, and I wander from corporation to corporation prying a few bucks out of their back pocket to fix their computers or jockey papers.
Y'know, so that there's food to eat. Has nothing to do with anything I'd actually LIKE.
The postmodern worker is most often so alienated from the product of their labor that it's not even depressing anymore, it's just funny. (See Officespace if you don't believe me.)

I'd take the quiz, but I think it would be pretty hard to generate a standardized test for Browncoats, since we're all a little contrary by nature anyway...

Good luck!

The survey would be done on another site (mine). I'm letting my domain expire at the end of the month, so it's a last hurrah for me. :) No one would know anyone else's answer (not even me), since the survey is 100% anonymous. It's a good question, I'll probably word it as "What's your education level?" or something, with a space for people to add their comments for things such as a major. Thanks for the feedback.

Yes it would be hard to completely pin down the Browncoats via something like this. But that's not what it's meant for. It's only meant to get a generalized snapshot that is only slightly more in depth, and certainly more centralized.

You know I thought about including that question as well. I think that it is really one of the topics not discussed here. I'll include it.
