Renting is cool. Just want to spike it all on that day. Even better if they have no copies left and therefore people asking for it!!! Get in early...clean 'em out.

And if you're using Netflix or Blockbuster Online, clear your viewing list so that it only reflects "Serenity" that week.
Make it the number one rental, too!

I think it'd be better to wait until it's number 2 and then buy it, so you can get it to number 1 again, and have a claim like "Amazon's number 1 average ranking DVD seller for x weeks". Amazon has a average ranking, highest, and lowest, for the product for every day.

This'd be better than blowing it all on one day, since sales numbers aren't made public. It also helps by listing Serenity longer on prominent Amazon pages.

Perhaps the purchases should be spread around a bit more than just on Amazon. There are many, many ways to purchase the Serenity DVD. It'd be a good idea to buy it all kinds of ways, online and in-store.

It'd make for a more robust campaign if it took place in all kinds of retail outlets.

Finally, something 11thHour and I agree on!

Spread the sales! Our local outlets need our support as well. If they look at their books and see "Oh, we only sold two copies of "Serenity" in June" they aren't going to keep extra copies on the shelves. Spread the sales, spread the love!

(Also, when I was in Fred Meyers and Target yesterday, I .. (bad Ertia) rearranged the impulse-buy/counter-side dvd displays and put Serenity on them. I HATE customers like me. )

Just a tidbit...

In Park Royal in Vancouver, the Future Shop has it for sale as its #18 best seller, 4 months after release. Sweet.

Wasn't the plan supposed to do it on ONE day because, well, this is supposed to be special and we're buying the DVDs once in a while, anyways?
This is supposed to be an EVENT that is noticed and gets us Browncoats a little excited, motivated and active again (which works better if we all order it from the same source, since they will probably run out of stock and have to reorder thousands of copies. Amazon is the logical choice - and very easy.). Did you miss what caused all of this?

I'm sorry about my sig, I changed it in my profile but since I don't have the time right now I'm gonna have to wait until tomorrow evening to remove all the =========s from all my posts.

I didn't notice the whole Brownshirt thing because I just didn't make the connection from Browncoats to Nazis. In connection with ARMY and WE AIM TO MISBEHAVE ON A CERTAIN DAY, that slogan could sound quite threatening to the uninitiated, I agree. I came up with it (and am now a bit ashamed that I missed the analogy, being German myself), and I won't object to changing it. It should still have some kind of OOMPH, though. And the ONE ONE ONE thing was my POINT, because there were too many plans for too many days around. I wrote that sounding a tad more theatralic once somewhere.
(Just for the record, I'm by no means a Nazi. )

Ouuuch. Yeah, maybe we just oughta stick with the Firefly/Serenity Day thing. That's just a little too attention grabbing for my liking, and not in a good way.

Yes, though: one day. one action...because EVERYONE can do it. Letter writing, screenings, flyering, mainstream media...I love it all but let's keep the focus sharper n' a steelheeled stiletto.

Did a banner get decided on? Or are we using a range?

ALSO: what about contacts for Universal?

What day is (a) name (b) banner (c) action (d?) letter etc. being decided on? Also, is there any chance of couple of flyers being devised for the day, once it all gets decided? (hint, hint, 11th hour please, please, pretty please and I'll send you strawberries?? Well, donations anyway...?)

x

P.S. Sameertia, I've been playing 'rearrange the shelving arrays' too! It's sooo much fun.

Please check the Browncoat Army: Banner thread for dates and any other information. MalNourished is now coordinating this.

A PLEA.

Hey'all

Listen, FollowMal and I are compiling a list of websites to hit with publicity about this lil' ruckus, once all banners/slogans/signatures/
letters/flyers/ACTION (most importantly)have been decided.

Thanks to CaptainJosh, Silences and all who have already posted lists of links. If anyone else has any more obscure ones (especially globally!), could you email me at rachel_mccrum@hotmail.com? Or FollowMal at followmal@gmail.com.

Cheers, darlins.

I have already started to convert people to the great Firefly/Serenity verse. I think we should all buy the serenity comic its $9.95.... If you can't afford the movie.

First and Foremost...

I'm hooked!

We may not be able to get some sort of charity screening here. But I'm gonna see about getting together one gorram big shindig going here!

However, I'm a little lost on who the main organizer of this righteous day is.

Is it the www.straightfromthehorsesmouth.co.uk/firefly site?

Or someone else?

There are TWO events being planned, independently of one another.

One is:
www.cantstoptheserenity.com

The other (website not ready yet):
www.serenityjune23rd.com

I think for the screenings, you need to visit the 'Can't Stop the Serenity' site. B!x over there can help you. :) He's the one in charge of arranging the screenings and his site has a list of every screening that is taking place that day.

I've been preparing for Serenity Day.

I'll be out there buying my copy on the 23rd.

Unfortunately the cops in my town are overpaid and underworked; so they've got nothing better to do than harass people posting flyers, either licitly or illicitly. Their other favorite hobby is jaywalking tickets. They even set jaywalking ticket traps with bike cops in this place. They really try to stay away from that whole violent crime thing. Could mess with their retirement. I used to like tagging flyers for word of mouth raves, but this town has gotten too sketchy with no money for schools, and infinite money for cops.

Also, I've been extracting "pledges" from people that I've teased with a few fine firefly flicks.

I make them promise me to go buy "Serenity" on June 23rd. Then I let them see more episodes of Firefly to keep them salivating and committed.

I've got 5 people to promise to join us in misbehaving through this tease tactic. I recommend it for recruiting pinks or greens.

Just DON'T let them see Serenity before the 23rd. Tease 'em out w/your Firefly episodes. It works great! Try it!

LOL! You betcha. I'm gonna print me some flyers, write me some songs, hire me some PR folk...

Okay, just kidding. I wish it were possible, though.

If you haven't already, you might want to check out this thread, where some fellow Browncoats are trying to save both our sanity and some semblance of unity for a cause:

EDIT: In all fairness, I probably should also direct you to this thread, if you haven't seen it. However, you should only go here if you have LOTS of time and don't mind bickering.
