I think Im the only one on the east cost of virginia that's doing something on the twenty third for firefly or serenity. Im going to buy some shiny merch and serenity for the psp and dvd again. Fireflys a bit to expensive to buy again. But if theres anyone on the east side help the cause. hot topic as scary as it is just happens to be the only place besides the internet that sells shirts and other merch.

Someday the verse will spit in your soup but at least they gave you soup.

You never been to New York State... ;)

Anyways, I'm an East Coast Browncoat near Albany, NY. I know the Albany area or Capital Region doesn't seem to have a very large or even vocal Browncoat group but then again New York State is a vast empty space with trees and mountains with a few ports of civilization here and there.

But if any Albany area Browncoats want to get something put together then I'm all game but since I work in the media and I don't get time off I can't stray too far from home.

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

There's also supposedly some preliminary discussions in the Richmond, Virginia, area to host a charity screening of Serenity as part of the just-posted effort.

In reference to the Albany Screening;

This is the first time I have heard about it actually though a friend of mine (who is also a Browncoat) did mention that he had heard there was going to be a screening.

Please e-mail me the information at...

richard . lenseth @ capitalnews9 . com

Obviously without the spaces though, thanks!!!

You also might want to think about submitting the event to Capital News 9 for the Community Calender which can be found on the website and might be seen on the air.

Here is the link; http://www.capitalnews9.com/content/living/community_calendar/

E-mail on the way. Yay! More Albany Browncoats! :D

I like the idea of Browncoats all doing something, anything for the BDM on the 23rd. If you can't get to a screening, get the DVD. Or rent it and throw a party. Or buy a shirt. But if you have friends near any of the screenings... pretty pretty please consider that your Serenity event of the day? Please??

Look... I ain't gonna beg... except that I am. :P

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Well, I am in Richmond, VA, just two hours away from you, and I am working on some ideas for Serenity Day. Our website is down (host problems), but I will post a link as soon as our website guru gets it fixed in case you are interested.

I will be buying copies of the BDM DVD, the HDTV DVD, the PSP DVD & the series DVD to give as gifts and perhaps to donate for prizes in upcoming events. I will also be making the rounds with fliers & posters.

I have been speaking to the largest theatre South of the James here in Richmond about hosting us. We are hammering out conditions, interest, etc right now. Hopefully I will have news soon.

The only way one "gets" a screening is by organizing one. There is no central office bringing screenings to this city or that. There's just fans on the ground making one happen where they are.

Well, screenings have costs. If you don't think more than three people would go to one, there'd be no reason for anyone to try to have one. (Not that these screenings are limited to fans, of course.)

But, point being, if there isn't a critical mass in an area to support a screening, well, no one's going to magically appear and provide one anyway. Heh.

You're missing the point. You asked someone to bring a screening there But there is no one "bringing" screenings to any of these cities excedpt fans in those cities. There isn't someone "higher up" doling out money to pay for screenings in this city or that one. Each of these cities is on the list because fans on the ground in those cities made arrangements with a venue to show it, and have come to terms regarding venue rental and paying the fee for the film itself.

If you don't think there are people on the ground where you are who would do this, then there won't be a screening there.

This is entirely grassroots, and entirely dependent upon fans on the ground.
