So a commerical on Sci-fi today for Mammoth announcing that Serenity's Summer Glau is staring in this awesome Sci-fi original tonight at 9/8 central. I was suprised I didn't see this yet on the boards, but figured I spread the good word.

How shiny is that?!

Yes, thanks for the reminder! I'm so bummed, we don't have the Sci-Fi channel, and the person who was supposed to record it can't find a tape in time. Boo. Anyone know the next showing of it? Or is anyone else going to record it?

Wow, this dialogue is really something else. A few choice lines (no real spoilers):

When you have a son, you only have to worry about one weiner. When you have a daughter, you have to worry about every weiner in the hot dog stand.

I swear to God, if you gave her the weed I will neuter you!

It's corny, but strangely mesmerizing...the dialogue is funny.

Frank: let me be frank.
agent: you are Frank.

boyfriend: this is so War of the Worlds.
Summer: Tell me you are talking about the 1953(?) movie.
boyfriend: Actually, I was thinking about the re-make. (Summer gives him a look)
coroner: More like The Blob. (something like that - I love the refernce to the Blob, though)

and the hand crawling away as they discuss what to do...

Summer Glau looks great - kept waiting for River to show up to kick butt when those two *insert Chinese swearwords* hit on her...

No kiddin! What about the elaborate plan of sending in MORE super secret agents for back up ? These 2 were more like MIB agents in training! Couldn't help notice how the female agent kept getting hotter and less dressed during the movie. River had a few beautiful head on face shots of just her... WOW.

But c'mon folks..... did y'all not catch the ' Space Monkeys' line ??? I about died!!

Oh, and as for the goofy split screen parts , done mostly in the middle of the movie.... I thought right away to that gawd aweful 'Hulk' movie redone a few yrs ago. Horrific. Glad they didn't do it throughout.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

Summer did great considering what she was given to work with. I was so looking forward to this movie as well... I usually love the so-bad-it's-good movies. This one was trying to be funny.. and it just didn't work. Oh well. At least I got to see Summer. She's lovely. She should work more. Or just come live in my closet. :)

Yes, you are the ONLY one who didn't like it.

Actually, it was pretty cheesy, and tried overly hard to be funny here and there. Most of the time, it didn't work. But it was kinda fun, and its always good to see Summer dancing or just standing there.

Forgot it was on!!

DVRing it now. Seems cute. The thing with them stuffing the body in the trunk was hilarious (realistic, too, IMO).

Space monkeys! Bwahaha!

Seems cute-but-cheesy. Better than average for SciFi Channel, but not better than SciFi Channel seems able to do, really. :P

I like it so far. But then, I had low standards to begin with, knowing it was a SciFi Channel film. :P

Loving Summer, of course.

EDIT: The hand thing... OMG. Bwaha! "...like the back of his hand. Um, no offense Frank." Heh.

Goofy, cheesy as hell... but cute, IMO.

Well, that was the best dumb fun I've had in a while. The whole thing was a collection of lines that deserve to be in a much, much better movie.

My favorite bit was the way the mammoth kept sneaking up on people.

Sneaking up on people!

How the hell does it sneak up on people? It's a frickin' Mammoth!

AAAHAHAHAHAHA! Shiny, I just got up and get to laugh this hard this early. Great way to start a brand new day! Thanks.
BTW there was some really crappy horror movie about sharks on TV last night... in the 4 minutes I saw of it, a few people were scuba diving to a shipwreck. You know, with that huge rubber snorkel thing in their mouth, the one you bite into, and there were voiceovers that sounded like they were talking on a radio. Now I dunno if you ever had a snorkel in your face, but it's kinda hard to talk like that. And then, when the shark inevitably attacked, it growled. Gotta love crappy writing and sound design.
Is Mammoth gonna come out on DVD?
Oh, and is Summer doing that incredibly cute thing where she quickly moves one corner of her mouth to the side and down when she's talking in this movie? I love it when she does that, although I think she doesn't do that when she's in character. Pity.

One day.
One mission.
One army of Browncoats.

While I do agree that this was a waste of Summer's acting talents it did make me chuckle a few times. I especially enjoyed the war of the worlds comments. When the movie first started and I realized Summer was playing a 16 year old I was like wow I'm not buyin that she's 16...but as it wore on I gave into the fact that it was possible. Also is it just me or did she seem shorter in this movie? The only part that seriously saddened me was when Summer got the headphones I thought she was gonna do some really great elaborate dance and she didn't she did dance though which was shiny, but I expected more. Lastly, I LOVED Ceril's tagline I donno if it was in refrence to this movie or not but I greatly appreciated it "That's why I never kiss 'em on the mouth." I guess bad things happen when you kiss Summer on the mouth 'cause its far too good that karma has to even it out somehow.
