Who saw Mammoth? What did you think.

I thought it was cute. Summer was great as expected! I always like Tom Skerrit.

One day.
One mission.
One army of Browncoats.

On June 23rd, we aim to misbehave!

Nathan doesn't know it yet, but I am his one true love! Is that weird?
(he will believe, he will believe)

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I was out of town, so I missed it & forgot to set the Tivo to record it.

Was it good?

It was interesting, very campy/comic booky. If one can say that. I enjoyed it.

I'd agree with that. It was cheesy...but a totally expected cheesy. Very campy. It was pretty good.

I'm sure there will be reruns.

Movie sucked. I mean really, really bad. Possibly worst SciFi Channel movie I've ever seen (even worse then Manticore).

But Summer was great. Why didn't they just make a runaway cloned Mammoth movie starring Summer as the student scientist who saves the day? That would have been a good movie.

It was what it was. Sometimes you just have to accept things.

It obviously was not taking itself seriously. It was just innocuous good fun.

Believe me, that is not the WORST movie or even show ever shown on SCIFI.

They're showing it again on the 27th. Check your local listings.

I thought it was okay. Funny in parts.

And I agree that it definately was not the worst movie Sci-Fi has shown. I've seen plenty of stinkers on Sci-Fi. Mammoth is an okay movie as long as you expect a bit of silliness. I'll watch the replay. If only to see Summer again. By the way...

I thought it was the best Scifi has aired. It was definately fun, not realistic.

I will definitely have to check it out when it reairs on the 27th. I love those cheesy movies on Sci Fi. We normally get some of the local browncoats together & we all sit around and make fun of them. Kind of like our own MST3K.

Somebody, I believe it was Eric Idle, once remarked regarding "Monty Python's The Meaning of Life" that it was one rewrite away from being a great film. Mammoth was one rewrite away from being ok. Actually let me quote from what I said in another thread,

I thought it was pretty dire myself. The pacing was horible, the script uneven, the plot a contrived rehash, and the mammoth scenes seemed to be composed in such a way (very short shots, darkly lit, and from weird angles) as to hide how bad the CG looked. It had flashes of sureal goofyness in places (particularly in the later half) but it never mannaged to maintain any level of enjoyability for any length of time.

A note regarding the acting. A lot of talent was wasted in this film. Even the actors that aren't that great were better then their material and the standouts in the cast (Most notably Glau and Skerritt) were so much better than their lines that it really was painfull to watch.

All in all a movie strugling - without any great success - to achieve mediocrity.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

I only caught the last half hour, but...UGH. Just UGH.

The special effects were done in somebody's basement. The pacing was erratic. Five minutes into viewing, I was MSTing the gorram thing, chiefly with interjected 'Serenity' lines. "The mammoth's come home to roost..."

This movie was woefully beneath Summer's acting prowess. Glad to see her looking similar to the way she looked in 'Firefly', though - I thought she was a mite cuter there than in the BDM.
