Never actually posted before, but I warrant this news needs saying.

I found Firefly on sale today at the local Walmart for 38.74. Not sure if all Walmarts have released it early or if mine got confused. Regardless, it made for a happy day for me - saved 12 bucks and cancelled my Amazon order.

Anyone else found the DVDs yet?

Target sold some today, but I didn't get in on that. But some places just get lazy and stock the new releases early. I got 'St. Anger' (Metallica) two days early.

It's only 34.99 on Amazon. I think Sam Goody is the cheapest so far.

Well, Here is the inside scoop for Target and street dates. Target gets street dated items which are not supposed to heavily sell along with non street dated material, thus even though there is a sticker saying street dated, most people forget to keep checking and just grab it out of the box OR and this is the more common senario, they backstock it when it arrives at the store (usually 2-5 days before the streetdate) and the whole backstock box gets sent back to sales floor the next day, only this time it is in a box that doesn't have a street date sticker on it so it all gets stocked.

From an insider's point of view, its not laziness, its bad training, bad organization and lack of equipment on Target's part.

I got it!
Suncoast called and said it was in. I think I got mine cheaper than anyone. The girl that took the pre-order forgot to charge me tax so the guy at the counter lets me have it for $19.99 out-the-door.

When I pick it up he tells me it's 34.99, I tell him it's 19.99 on the pre-order. He spends 5 minutes looking for the old pre-order sheets to confirm the price. I look behind the counter and see 3 sets with pre-order slips on them. I tell the guy to check the other pre-orders. Shiny! They are all for 19.99. He quits questioning my integrity and lets me have it for 19.99.

Be careful with your Suncoast/Sam Goody pre-orders. I don't think they intended to sell it that cheaply, as they have FF season 1 and FF the complete series listed seperately for two different prices. I just got back from the local Sam Goody, and the manager didn't want to let them go at that price cause he didn't want to get in trouble for marking down something for 20 bucks. Suncoast/Sam Goody may not honor their own agreement. Be warned, I am going to call them after I wake up for work to find out the particulars. Stay tuned.

Check your state law - most states in their consumer protection laws have a "bait and switch" clause that requires merchants to honor the advertised price.
