Fellow Browncoats,

Just last night I watch the forth and final dvd of the FF series. I'd been putting it off so that I'd have part of the verse that I haven't seen 20 times already. Well, thats-that. No more watching any FF I haven't seen at least twice.

Just for a new post. I wanted to lay something down that was in the Jaynestown eps.

Stich Hichin. Heres a guy that really IMO got the short end of the stick. I mean what did he do wrong besides become a running buddy with Jayne. Yet the way the show plays out I feel more sorry for Jayne in the end than I do Stich. Whys that?

Stich did his job. Got pushed out of the aircraft 30 feel from the ground. Lost an eye. Spent 4 years in a hotbox lockdown and was freed only to find that the guy responsible is a hero in town. Yep I think revenge is in order here.

Jayne has indeared himself to the FF fanship so he comes out to be the good guy. Do we feel so sorry for Jayne that he can do things like this and get away no hard feeling toward him? I know he tried to clear the air with the mudders. It isn't his fault if they didn't get it but 2 eps later he turns the Tams in and near gets nailed himself in the process. Yet Mal lets him back aboard. Anybody think hes learned his lesson or are we still waiting for the time when "Well that will be an interesting day." comes along?

Z

Of course Jayne hasn't learned his lesson. If he ever did, he wouldn't be Jayne. I have taken to watching "House". He is also a completely disagreeable fellow but I love him BECAUSE of his extreamly predictible faults. Jayne will ALWAYS think "with his swinging cod". Jayne will always think more ammo is needed. Jayne will always come to the rescue of whores. Jayne is Jayne and let's hope he never changes.

I actually think that part of the beauty of firefly is that the characters truly grow. Jayne is not as despicable as he used to be, and sometimes he slides, but he shows true concern for Kaylee when she gets shot (the true measure of a man is what he does when nobody is looking), and when River is reading everyone's thoughts, he actually has a truly apologetic moment, though he would never actually voice anything that he sees as being "weak" like that.

Compare the Jayne of the series with the Jayne of the film. Yes, there are still some dispicable traits present, but for Jayne, this is natural. Consider this as well. If Jayne had no redeeming qualities in him at all, would he have helped the others on their quest to Miranda? Jayne may not be a hero in any stretch of the term, but he at least has some sense of reight and wrong. This is one of the things about him that fans gravitate to.

P.S. - Righteous comparison, OhioBrowncoat. House and Jayne, my two favorite assholes. Or should I say hundans?

At last.
We can retire and give up
this life of crime.
