I was walking over to put on my nightly DVD of Firefly goodness, and I kick the 10 weight I forgot I had left on the floor of the darkened living room! And it hurts really really bad!

So - Do I go to the ER, knowing from past experience that they will pat me on the head and do nothing - or put in firefly, pop a pill and forget about the black spreading up my foot?!!!!!!?????

Pass the Mudders Milk, I need the pain killing quality!

One summer.
One mission.
One army of Browncoats.

And a bunch of Rings that make Shiny people do silly things!

Starting June 23rd, we aim to misbehave!

Nathan doesn't know it yet, but I am his one true love! Is that weird?

Well, never actually broken any bones, but ive had some experience in injuries (my father is a doctor).
Most likely you can just pop a painkiller and thats that, but there can be consequenses sometimes. My tip is play it safe and go to the er, that way they can straigthen it out if need be and make sure the bloodflow isnt hampered so you dont need to cut it of.

You can’t stop the Signal.
Keep spreading the word about Firefly!

I say take the Firefly DVDs with you, go to the Doctors, have them fix you up, and sneak the DVDs on the hospital TV. You may need to bring your DVD player with you too! lol

Seriously though, you should get it checked out. I hope you feel better!

Which toe and how close to the joint?
I've broken nearly all of my toes (don't ask). If it's a larger toe and the break is at the joint, go to the er. They'll most likely x-ray it, tell ya it's broke, and tape it up.

But if there's joint or tendon damage, it's better to get it taken care of now!

If it's a smaller toe, or the break is a clean one near the tip or between the joints, IEM- Ice, Elevate and Medicate. (Anti-inflammatory pain reliever is best.)

Ouch. Much sympathy here for you.

I add to the thought that you should get it seen to. it's better to be safe than sorry, even if they just tell you there's nothing they can do. Although they may also tell you to tape it to a neighboring toe to get it some stability and support as toes normally don't get splinted as fingers or limbs do.

When you're done at the doctors, come home, pop n the DVDs, and let our BDH's help you relax.

No, no more dancin' for you FMF, but if you come to the party we'll prop you up and put on the BDH's and put ice on your toe and share Mudder's Milk and cookies and we'll all laugh and enjoy our shiny show together.

I promise we'll take good care of you.

Good to know it's still attached!
I hate hurt toes. I think they were invented just to be annoying. They hurt, you can't do anything with them, and you still have to walk and stuff. bleah!
Head over to the virtual dance Partay! You don't need no toes for virtual dancin'!

Once I broke my pinky. How did I atcheve this? Smash it in the door like a sane person? Hit the wall? No, anyone who knows me knows that couldn't be true. So how may you ask?

I was juggling 3 5pound weights. When I started to drop one I reached under to catch it, just in time for it to smash my pinky into the ground. *Ouch*

This was in the middle of P.E. The teach wouldn't believe me when I told her my pinky was broken (we were just supose to be doing sit ups, how can you break bones doing that?) so I wasn't allowed to go to the nurse. My mom also didn't believe me when I called and told her, that is till she picked me up. By then it was about the same size as my big toe.

If you play Nationstates.net check out the region Firefly.

I broke my arm when I was 5 jumping on the bed at my babysitter's house. The babysitter was my mom's friend and she thought I was ok. I twas 2 days before I went to the hospital.

After all my mishaps, I kind of have a soft spot for the ER. And cute ER docs . . .

Hope you're feeling better, girl!
I was lucky enough to never have broken any boney so far. Didn't have to be operated on, either.
The only thing I had was back in school when I was trying to block at basketball and the ball hit my little finger on the left hand right on and pushed the second joint right next to the first joint (counted outwards). Didn't really hurt, just sort of pulsate, and the second I got up I thought "Aw, crap, now I'm not gonna use that hand properly for weeks.". It also felt very strange to look at.
After waiting for 2 hours at the ER, a doctor who looked almost exactly like "Hawkeye" from M*A*S*H took poor care of my finger (a shot to numb it, then a jerk. The shot felt like he was blowing up my finger like a balloon, btw, very unpleasant). Didn't take very good care, though, since I can't fully stretch my left pinky since then, and it starts to hurt a bit when I rest my hand on it for a minute. I'm lucky it wasn't my drawing hand, though. That might have changed a whole lot of things.
Oh and I hurt my ankle about 20 years back, but it's fine now.

I guess I was lucky so far. I wish you more luck in the future, I'll take the next broken toe (although I'm not looking forward to it)!

Yeah I was a Wild Child did it right before spring break to plus had watched the U.S. version of Ring before it. Exactly 7 days before, weird coincidence, I think not...... Anyways keep off the dance floor and ice it. Gotta take it a lot easier here lass. Well heres some food to get ya back up to your old self again. mata, Ookami yori

Well, even if you did break your toe, which you say you didn't, the doctor wouldn't be able to do anything for you. They would just send you home, and let it heal by itself. (of course that wouldn't stop them from charging you $175 for the useless visit.)
