CHRONICTHEHEDGEHOG

When the operative has his identity checked, the voice that says "Parlimentary Override" is Morena Baccarin.

Am I the only person that thinks Jayne isn't wearing his 'Jayne-hat' as he comes off Serenity? It just looks like a middle-eastern head scarf to me.

-That in the hanger bay while Jayne is dumping the reaver corpse and junk, Kaylee finds a catilyzer (the famous broken part from 'Out of Gas') and fidgets with it.

I knew that thing looked familiar...

Yes, I watch them at least a couple of times a day, just so I can have a good laugh!!

Can anyone say OBSESSION?!?!? LOL

Also, as you can see by my signature, the Haven outtake is my favorite as well!

Though the op told his men to "destroy it all", almost all of the monitors in Mr. Universe's "office" displayed the Miranda recording when Mal transmitted it.

I think you're confused on this point though.
We didn't see the actual "office" i.e., the place with the lovebot at any time after Mal runs the broadwave. All those lit monitors were in the generator room, I swear!

I'm 100% positive on this one, actually. Go to chapter 17, forward to 1:44:44 just as the hologram woman is saying "it isn't what we thought" and you'll see the screens in Mr. Uni's Office, then a cut *back* to Mal in the generator room hitting the control to raise the bridge.

Serenity on DVD. 12/20/05.

Maybe they destroyed all the transmission equipment and didn't bother with the screens? Can't really do any damage as far as 'sending' a signal with the screens. OR the alliance is just incompetent. Maybe this was the same group of purplebellies that looked for Simon and River in "Bushwacked".....under a Placemat.....TWICE!

OMG, I remember pointing that out to my step-father when I was "making" him watch the series over the holidays. That purplebelly must have thought the Serenity crew shrank River and Simon and hid them under the placemats!!!! Oy-vey! LOL

I think I may have just found another Serenity blooper: In the classroom scene, pause it when the student asks "why were the independents even fighting us?" and we are seeing the entire classroom, from behind and to the left of the teacher. There is no sign of River, even as the camera pans slightly before the next cut.

This cannot be explained by her desk being far enough behind the others, because this shot is quite wide and later shots establish how close she is to the other students:

- when River is tapping on the computer tablet we see how close she is to the student in front of her (the back of his feet are visible immediately above her tablet)

- right after River says "we meddle" and the camera zooms out to show the reaction of nearby students, we can see how close her desk is to the others'

I know Summer's a big damn star, but even her age-9-stand-in was too important to be there for the establishing shots? ;)

I HAVE to watch the outtakes everytime I put it in. Sometimes I just watch them.

I noticed pretty much all this stuff in the theater.

Like you it was little stuff I didn't notice. Because I was new to Firefly/Serenity it was a lot to pick up in first viewing.

It does say Captain. I just figured that was another of the changes Joss made to make it more "accesible" to newcomers.

I ABSOLUTELY hate it when Kaele says "wait Wash, where's Wash?" and Zoe says "He ain't coming"

I HATE THAT

* After they shoot the Reaver that survived the barnswallow collision, River says, "He didn't lie down...they never lie down", which is actually backwards, since when they get to Miranda it's, "none of them fell, they just lay down".

I think she was talking about the reavers, everyone else on the planet just layed down and let themselves die, but the people who became the reavers didn't.

Otherwise excellent observations, I'd caught most of those. Though what do you mean the Op gave mal the idea to disguise his ship? I must've missed that.

"Haha, mine is an evil laugh."

I remember someone, I'm not sure who, pointed out that at the end of the movie Book's monument is placed next to Mr. Universe's and Wash's. They asked the rather disturbing question, "How did his body get there?"

Of course the consensus seems to be that those are not grave markers, but simple monuments of remembrance.

I had just assumed they were on Haven at that point, and had brought Wash and Mr. Universe there...

Oh, I just assumed that the crew buried them on Mr. Universe's planet, but I hadn't occured to me that they could have taken them back to Haven...that seems to make more sense. They seemed to consider Haven to be kinda like their 2nd home, aside from Serenity. Good Catch!

I think there's a little connection between one of the outtakes and a later scene in the real movie.

I'm sure everyone here remembers "Don't you f*cking tell me what to goddamn do! MY SHIP!"

It took me a couple of viewings to make the connection that the "MY SHIP!" line is actually what Mal says to Simon after he brings them back on board after the barfight. And right as he says it and pushes Simon back onto the table, Kaylee is in the shot. And the expression on her face looks like Jewel is trying really hard to emote that she's horrified and taken aback by the fighting and concerned for Simon, but can't quite conceal a mischievous grin thinking back to "goddamn do"...

I've been loving this thread. It's incredible all the little details that we can catch in this movie.

There's one I haven't seen mentioned on this thread but that I know has been mentioned elsewhere, which is the fact that, during River's rescue from the Academy, when Simon's taking the jaket off and looking out the door, he turns and sees River just as she calls out "Simon", but she DOES NOT OPEN HER MOUTH. That was... freaky. LOL.

*******************************
Wash: This landing is gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: [deadpan] Oh God, oh God, we're all going to die?

The Op says "Mal, you're not a Reaver" and Mal gets a thoughtful look on his face and cuts off transmission then the next thing you see is him telling the crew to tie some bodies to the ship.
