Ok, here's a thought, since this september 30th thing seems to be the end of a summer long campaign, why can't the 23rd be the kickoff for it? That way everyone is happy.

Everyone buy a copy on the 23rd, we campaign and create new browncoats over the summer, and then everyone buys another copy on the 30th.

I mean I'm sure everyone on this board allready owns at least one copy of the series and the movie, so let's just buy two more instead of one.

I think it could work, I mean come on, some people juggle geese

This has been suggested a few times before.
Personally, I think that everyone buying the DVDs on ONE day is gonna make much more of an impact and would be the perfect and for the "Summer Campaign", which I guess we'll be doing regardless of wether the buying frenzy is in June or September. If we DIVIDE the sales, we divide the impact, the
But I don't wanna keep anyone from buying the DVD on June 23rd - as a matter of fact, I'm gonna do it myself, but mainly because there's a few birthdays over the summer, and I want those people to be browncoats come September, when the REAL.

For a real impact, we need the summer to rally enough people, and buying in June beforehand will create less sales in September, and September would have to make a bigger impact, either way, because it would look like there's actually LESS of us.
So you see why I have my doubts.
The organised buying frenzy (Serenity Day) should be in September, and whoever just wants to get a DVD in June should by all means do so, but it shouldn't be "official".
After all, there's no law keeping anyone from buying dozens of DVDs every ruttin day!

Btw, I bought another German Firefly DVD box yesterday, because I gave my first one to a friend as a gift and "only" have the UK box here, but since I wanna recruit people who don't speak english, I need the German dubbed version, don't I? I might add that the Firefly box is a whopping 60 bucks in Germany. The German dubbing is terrible, btw, but STILL everyone I gave it to liked it - my flatmate's boyfriend watched the pilot and 4 episodes yesterday, then he came over and wanted to talk about that great show and recite some of the cool phrases.

He said he would have continued to watch if my roommate and her friend wouldn't have come back and make it impossible. He's not a person to become an active Browncoat, though, but he really digged it. I'ma get him to spread the word!

I'd encourage those who will buy one copy only to do it in September - it just makes the most sense. As much as I love this thing, I have other things to spend my money on and won't be buying it three times. I guess I could get some licensed merchandise though.

That's actally why the September date is better - because some people only do this ONCE, and if we buy less DVDs in September, well, doesn't really look like the Fanbase is broadening, right?

Not if the June 23rd date bombs after making big announcements, and I fear that's what'll happen, and people will be thoroughly de-motivated. Not enough time, easy as that, but there's a lot of other good reasons for Sept.
