Has it ever been discussed that the source of River's name is the River Thames in the UK. Check out the "Name Origin" section of http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Thames.

Seems that the name of this river is probably derived from "Celtic (Brythonic) Tamesa, perhaps meaning "the dark one", but also based upon Proto-Indo-European ta- with a meaning “to flow”.

I mean have you ever seen a better combination of "the dark one" and the act of "flowing" than River's fight scene against the Reavers in Serenity ?

Nice. Makes sense, too. This will require further investigation.
Thanks! No I won't get any work done today!

Seriously, I love having food for thought.

Holding until you get back, Captain.

Could be right. After all, Joss lived in the UK for a spell. Speaking as an American who feels at home in London, the UK is kinda like Serenity, once you have been there, you never really leave

I was just in the UK a few weeks ago. Really like the place, the history, and the people ;-) They could do with better street signs, though. Driving into and out of London can be a real challenge for us Yanks, at least it was for me. Seems that you can't find street names until after you make the turn, if at all ;-)

I think the road signs are much better. Here in podunk they often are nothing more than a piece of cardboard

I really liked the signs on the motorway, made sense. I LOVE England and Scotland and Wales (didn't get to Ireland dang it).

The roundabouts were fun and I think genious, get rid of traffic lights!

I would go back in a heartbeat

I agree with you about the Roundabouts. Take a bit of getting used to, like about being honked at 10+ times or so before you get the hang of it ;-) But they truly are genious, far better than 4-way stops or traffic lights.

I know it is crazy, but wasn't the light different there? My boys and I agree that everything looks different because the quality of the sunlight is different. Ok so I am a weirdo

Well, the light WILL be different from most areas in the US. Just check out the latitude of the UK. It is pretty far north of just about most of the US, meaning that the sunlight angle will be less direct than in just about any US location for the same time of year. In addition, being farther north will give you longer daylight hours in the summer and shorter daylight hours in the winter than just about anywhere in the US.

So you "Engineer" away and I will translate what you are REALLY saying

Actually, that's one theory I've never seen before - I think you've come up with a new one! Could be, given Joss' history.
