I was watching Trash last night with my "borrowed' new to the verse daughter, and I noticed, again - Is it just me and the daughter or has OurMrsReynolds DEVELOPED a larger bust? And isn;t one side larger than the other?

YoSaffBridge definatly is well 'gifted' in that respect. Dunno about one being larger than the other, but I'd like to investigate that in depth. if I could. Even so, I'd still let her grab a hold of my plow.

People love a happy ending. So every episode, I will explain once again that I don't like people. And then Mal will shoot someone. Someone we like. And their puppy. - Joss

Yeah, but, either she bought a better bra, or the she had been enhanced after OurMrsReynolds.

All I'm sayin.

Not to mention the unmentionables. Oops...I wasn't suppose to mention them, was I?

And...for me, the 'girls' have never been equal. They've always varied by a cup size. I've had several friends who have the same issue.

Speaking as a guy, here, but I can always tell if a girl is right-handed or left-handed, based on breast size and/or pendulousness (pendulosity?).

The dominant hand tends to do the most work, and so the corresponding breast tends to be smaller and the underlying pectoral muscle more toned. Right-handed = slightly (or significantly) smaller and/or higher right breast, et cetera.

Now ask me about the back strap width of the bra for figuring actual cup size (a.k.a., 'Wonderbra debunker')...

Observantly,

Breasts are a hobby of mine.

P.P.S.
I love Christina Hendricks. Whatever size they were, are, will be, those are real McCoy! What's not to love? I also find the little rolls of subcutaneous fat at her hips very attractive. So much for cultivating the Callista Flockhart look, as far as I'm concerned. Show me a woman with a soft, curvaceous body, and I'll show you a woman with an oral fixation, er, a zest for living.

I see you have spent much time on your research, sir. I commend you, as you, sir, are correct!. I've very right-handed (except for being able to write left-handed when necessary...and legibly, but we won't get into that) so the left twin has the Toni...er, is larger while the right is 'actual size.'

The wider the strap, the larger the cup size. Small strap with big cup size = loss of nerve function below the shoulder. Trust me on this one.

Not that I've put in the quality research some of y'all have, but I thought YoSaffBridge probably wasn't wearing a bra with the outfit in OMR. She was, um, sort of Princess Leia jiggly. Certainly would explain how she got dressed so fast. I figured it was another way to grab Mal's attention. Since the top wasn't form-fitting it's hard to judge proportions accurately.

Wow. I've never heard of or noticed breast "handedness". The discovery must have required years of study. I never would have believed guys actually have rational thoughts about breasts. Truly, this is a fascinating thread.

I thought she had a corset on in Trash vs. a regular bra or freeness in Our Mrs. Reynolds

I know my bras give me a sweet cleavage line, but my corset REALLY gives me cleavage.

Can you tell I really love my chest. Hopefully it doesn't shrink too much when I lose some weight.

Well, I can't speak for other guys, but I have indeed spent years 'researching' breasts. Of course, a brassiere impedes the observation, so...

For my part, I find both 'perfect' breasts (i.e., highly symmetrical) and 'normal' breasts (i.e., asymmetrical, based on 'handedness') are beautiful. A woman who has one breast smaller, firmer than the other suggests an affinity for strenuous work, an admirable personality trait in any human being. A woman who displays high-symmetry suggests a life of ease, a woman who has rarely had to (or chosen to) work hard physically. A woman who has a flock of admirers to carry and lift for her, perhaps.

In either case, women's breasts are a natural work of Art, and as such they all deserve appreciation. So, I prefer to think of myself as a connoiseur of Beauty, of Natural Art, rather than something so clinical as a 'researcher' of breasts. And with Art, the more we learn, the more we appreciate; the more we appreciate, the more we learn...

Avocationally,

zoid

P.S.
Christina was wearing a bra in the early scenes of OMR. I know, because her blouse is somewhat translucent and Joss (bless him) lit her from behind. As a consequence, on a handful of occasions the attentive (meaning: heterosexual male) viewer can discern the line of Ms. Hendricks' waist, her ample endowment and the outline of a very thin bra, with a fair degree of three-dimensionality. Additional evidence of the first two traits and Christina's voluptuousness around her waist and hips may be found in her dorsal semi-nude scene with Fillion later in the episode. (NB: Have I ever mentioned that Nathan Fillion is the luckiest SOB in the world?) I'm guessing the actress was wearing appliques over her areolae (at most), but damn! In such close proximity to her mostly-naked pulchritude, I'd have had a hard time remembering my lines, or my name for that matter. I can't help wondering if she smelled as wonderful as she looked...

(My number one question for Nathan, if ever given the opportunity to ask it: What do Morena and Christina smell like, in close quarters? 'Heaven', would be his answer, I'm betting.)

However... I was moved to check... and I'm mildly confused. One of mine is very slightly bigger than the other, but I think it's the right rather than the left, and I'm so right-handed I can't even put a pen behind my ear with my left hand with any degree of accuracy, and I'm not a wallflower who's afraid of breaking a nail! Am I a mutant?

Eloisa:

This could be serious. You should run immediately to the ladies' room, whip 'em out and verify that it's the left one that is smaller, not the right.

If you're a blonde: Remember, a mirror will make your left one look like your right one, and vice versa. So always be sure to check which hand you're 'hoisting' your boobs with in front of the mirror in the public loo...

Delightedly,

zoid

P.S.
Seriously, though, if your dominant-hand breast is the larger of the two, that is a non-representative and very interesting result (more details, please, strictly for research purposes, of course ). A breast is, after all, primarily adipose (fatty) tissue overlying muscle. The more you work that hand/arm, the more pronounced the loss of stored breast fat and the greater the tone of the underlying muscle. It's not terribly magical, after all. Is there anything particularly strenuous that you do left-handed, like bowling, gardening, computer backpack carrying, or javelin throwing?

Thanks for starting this very entertaining thread!..and thanks to the enthusiastic participants. YoSafBridge is my favorite non-crew member on Serenity and I think Ms. Hendricks is all natural ... except for the acting part and I don't think her boobies can do that on their own.

As for me, I follow the identified norm - righthanded and about .5 cup smaller on the right. Boy, I never expected to post that statement on the board! Anyway, carry on...

I'm a little worried that mine keep getting bigger. No really!

Every time I put weight on they expand but on the infrequent occasions I loose weight they don't go down! They are now both totally out of proportion to the rest of me and if this goes on I can see that by the time I'm 30 I'll have been suffocated under the weight of my own bosoms!

God did not bless me with an adundance of the "beautiful art" so admired by zoid. I was a small b for most of my teen to 20's. Then I had my first son and went from a 34b to a 38 (baby weight) E! It was awful.

ZOID

FutureMrsFIllion wrote:

You may fancy yourself ambidextrous, but your body knows better.

It's not about dexterity, in any case. Dexterity is defined as "readiness and grace in physical activity; especially : skill and ease in using the hands". More germane to breast dimensions, though, is the amount of physical exertion performed with the dominant hand/arm.

Women engage in a lot of house cleaning, for example. Men do not, as I'm sure I don't need to tell you. If you have children, and a standard husband, this means an incremental increase in scrubbing, vacuuming, and the general removal of biohazardous materials from the living environment that "aren't going to get done by the washing-up fairy", as my beloved wife puts it. Cleaning up after a bunch of dear ne'er-do-wells is hard work, and is generally performed with both dexterity and strenuous physical exertion. As a consequence, the dominant hand/arm get the majority of the work (regardless whether you're ambidextrous when writing or performing other fine-detail work).

By way of contrast, when I'm unloading the trunk of my wife's shiny red Mustang, bringing its weekly load of can't-live-without purchases into our abode, I usually carry the heavier and bulkier items in my non-dominant left hand/arm (and clenched between my teeth), so that I may use my less-heavily-laden and dexterous right hand/arm to open the entryway doors to our house.

Between this and the typical grunt-ape, both-hands-legs-and-back-muscles labor required of most males in a monogamous heterosexual relationship, my physiology maintains its symmetry to an indistiguishable degree of variation. It has also given me a very strong jaw (i.e. from carrying packages clenched between my teeth), a physical trait many women (subconsciously?) find attractive in the male of the species.

So, if you ladies would like to 'even 'em out', the answer is fairly straightforward. Simply concentrate on using your 'off' hand to accomplish the rigorous and routine daily chores you currently unconsciously perform with your dominant hand/arm.

But I would just like to interject, before you do something so radical: Please don't do it. To reiterate: I think it's charming that one breast is smaller than the other. It implies naturalness and a spectacularly attractive lack of self-consciousness, and underscores the feminine virtue of tireless determination and effort in the face of overwhelming odds (meaning, a husband and children who are oblivious to their surroundings).

Aren't women forced to be overly-conscious of their bodies enough as it is? Please leave your breasts alone. If they require a lot of meticulous attention and conscientious care, well, speaking for all men, that's another one of those things we were put here by a beneficent God(dess) to do for you, and we can probably do it equally well with either hand. It means that much to us...

Clumsily,

zoid

P.S.
We do know that I'm being semi-whimsical in my characterization of male and female roles, don't we? It's my 'Way': Never be totally serious about anything, if it can be avoided, and never let 'em know for sure which is the 'semi' and which is the 'whimsical'...

Where were you when I was in high school. A very mean boy, who now regrets his transgressions, made a point daily of pointing out that, one of my legs is slightly longer, one side of my lip is ever so gently plumper, one breast is noticiably larger and that my ears don't match. Yes ladies and gents, get a three way mirror and investigate your ears, chances are there will be small differences but the pattern will be much the same. My ears came from 2 different people. Oh and one eye is slightly larger than the other giving a very slight "lazy" eye look.

Geez, I SOUND hideous, I assure you I am not and would post a semi flattering picture if only I knew how.

Curiosity led me to this thread. The frankness and humor led me to post. As a male, I have appreciated breasts for most of my life. I still do, but I am also aware that they do not make a person. I have not put as much research into them as Zoid has, but I have also noticed the size differences mentioned. I have trained weapons fighters for Ren Faires, people who ,most of the time, have never even held a sword. This included several females. Over the course of time (several years), I noticed the size change. It took me awhile to realize it was due to change in musculature (same thing happens to guys). Ever since noticing that, every time I see different size breasts, I think "hmm, she must be a fighter". That goes along with the "working" theory, also proposed by Zoid; I subscribe to that as well.
Also never did like stick-figures...real women are sexy!

I just think it is funny, that men, in general, spend enough time looking at breasts to notice these things!

I think as an experiment, we women should try and spend an equal amount of time chekcing out a man's "package". Although if we did, we would never get anything done!

Umm...female scrutiny of the object(s) in question would be an interesting topic, but one which might send many males scampering away. I can say that I have not spent as much time focusing on those as I have breasts, but I suppose actually having the equipment, I can be put up there with other "experts". I am happy with what I have, and not completely displeased with the scrutiny I have received in the past. I suppose if you want to discuss this, it is only fair.

I am very proud of my body, and there isn't a female alive, that feels good about their body (and some maybe who don't) that DOESN'T want to be checked out once in awhile. However, it is VERY unnerving to be having a conversation with someone whose eyes NEVER leave your chest. And these IDIOTS seem to think we don't notice! So from now on, I shall stop in the middle of whatever I am saying, step back a bit and just stare.

To you gentlemen that are respectful (or at least very sly) no worries, check out away.

Well, since you are amenable, I was wondering if men have the same problem. Is one usually bigger than the other (obviously it wouldn't be due to underlying musculature here, unless you are a mutant who can do tricks with them!)?

Sadly I haven't closely observed enough 'equipment' for a proper scientific study, although if there are any volunteers please step forward!

Ha, for a minute I thought I'd gone to the wrong site. Fireangelsinfishnets.com or something like that.

Anyway to solve the enlargeing question here,I have the answer. Its easy to see that as saffrins chest grows larger, this is where she keeps her fold up list of ex-hubbies. As that list grows longer the the swells grow bigger so to say.

My second guess would be that its where she keeps rubber bladders for air storage on low O2 planets.

just my 2 breasts...I mean cents.

PS: I wonder what the spouse would say if I were to start calling them Fanti & Mingo?

EmmaRigby,
No, there isn't usually a size difference per se; maybe a small one due to genetics, but not to musculature. They do "hang" at different heights to prevent damage. And they are curious things, indeed. The "focus" of masculinity, and yet so tender that an impact can turn men into a puddle of whimper on the floor...

Does that help any? If not, let me know.

I would volunteer myself, but I am not sure my wife would be too terribly happy!

God did not bless me with an adundance of the "beautiful art" so admired by zoid. I was a small b for most of my teen to 20's. Then I had my first son and went from a 34b to a 38 (baby weight) E! It was awful.

Now I claim a full D and the worst part is, I am getting smaller and they are either staying the same or getting bigger, because they proceed me into the room by about 5 secounds!

My whole life (well actually the time period after I increased in height by about 8 inches and the rest of my body finally figured out it was supposed to fatten up) I've been a 34B. Even with the yo-yo dieting in high school. I get to college, go on birth control, and now I'm a 34C magically! I LOVE it, but I have this fear that they will shrink as I start to seriously lose weight.

Your story gives me hope that they won't shrink (well, less than a C cup though the number might change), so thanks!

I was told once that a gentlemen had either (a) a large... um... set of golf balls or (b) a large "implement" but not (c) both.

edited: "large" being relative to the other item on that man.

Thanks for the update! Strangely my degree in zoology didn't cover individual differences in the human male!

I did learn some other interesting facts though. Did you know that an erect gorilla 'package' (I didn't want to offend with anatomical terminology) is only 3cm long? It makes you watch the Disney film Tarzan with a whole new eye, I can tell you!

I was thinking of creating a thread

WHY WOMEN GO TO THE LOO IN PACKS - so that we could once and for all explain to men that we do it (a) to talk about them, (b) to talk about _____(insert subject, really anything but them) or (c)to talk about them.

FMF, I consider myself "average", and I also have an average-sized pair of..."golf balls" will do nicely (clean words are good ). So, I am not sure. I have seen many (unfortunately), and still can't confirm nor deny that statement completely. I have always seen them as a package deal (no pun intended, but it's there anyway), and sized accordingly...interesting concept.

EmmaRigby,
That zoological fact makes me feel a bit better about myself. Thank you!
Yes, we males are as diverse in body shape/style as are females. Revel in difference! Difference is good!
The important thing is to be happy with how you are; don't try to change anything to please others or to match what "society" dictates. If you are healthy and happy with you, that is all that matters. It just irks me that people constantly try to change themselves to match what everyone else wants....

*deep breath*

Alright, sorry about that. I will get off my soapbox now.

I'm ok.
Really.

Does anyone have nicknames for theirs? I call mine:

the girls
the crumb-catchers
the twins
the Grand Tetons
My Bazoombas (to the tune of "My Sharona")
the twin towers
Mary Kate and Ashley (before the eating disorder)

I make fun of them mainly because they are always in the way. I never know if I have a stain on my shirt unless someone tells me or I see it in a mirror. I'd have to lift them up to check and that can be inconvenient.

Mal-licious

I'm going to add cursing and the hurling about of things to my repertoire.
